The / stereochemistry of repeating alkenes in polymers provides a powerful handle to modulate the thermal and mechanical properties of these soft materials, but synthetic methods to precisely dictate this parameter remain scarce. We report herein a -selective acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymerization of readily available α,ω-diene monomers with high functional group tolerance. Identification of a highly stereoselective cyclometalated Ru catalyst allowed the synthesis of a broad array of polymers with contents up to 99%. This platform was leveraged to study the impact of the geometry on the thermal and mechanical properties of polyalkenamers, including an ABA triblock copolymer synthesized via extension of a -rich telechelic polyoctenamer with d,l-lactide. These results suggest that -selective ADMET affords an efficient strategy to tune the properties of a variety of polymers.

Purpose: To assess whether exposure to an extended-release (ER) oxycodone with abuse deterrent properties (ADF) reduced tampering of oxycodone in a real-world, postmarket setting to address the thinking behind Category 4 labeling by the FDA.

Methods: Data from an observational cross-sectional study of the general adult population (2022) was used under a causal framework to estimate the confounding-adjusted odds of tampering oxycodone after exposure to two types of ADF ER oxycodone. The tampering behaviors of those who used only single entity immediate-release (SE-IR) oxycodone was used as a comparison.

Illustrating the structures of bias from immortal time using directed acyclic graphs.

Int J Epidemiol

School of Public Health, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China.

Background: Immortal time is a period of follow-up during which death or the study outcome cannot occur by design. Bias from immortal time has been increasingly recognized in epidemiological studies. However, the fundamental causes and structures of bias from immortal time have not been explained systematically.

Rolling bearings, as critical components of rotating machinery, significantly influence equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Accurate fault diagnosis is therefore crucial for maintaining industrial production safety and continuity. This paper presents a new fault diagnosis method based on FCEEMD multi-complexity low-dimensional features and directed acyclic graph LSTSVM.

Copper(II)-Catalyzed Enantioselective Addition of Aryl Amines to Isatin-Derived -Boc-Ketimines for the Synthesis of Acyclic ,'-Ketals.

J Org Chem

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology, College of Pharmacy and Tianjin Key Laboratory of Molecular Drug Research, Nankai University, Tianjin 300350, China.

Here, we demonstrated a copper(II)-catalyzed enantioselective addition of aryl amines to isatin-derived -Boc-ketimines using chiral O-N-N tridentate ligands derived from BINOL and proline. Generally, the chiral acyclic ,'-ketals were obtained in high yields (up to 98%) and excellent ee values (up to 98%). Various aryl amines could be tolerated and a gram-scale reaction was also possible.

Outdoor nitrogen dioxide exposure and longitudinal health status trajectory in the Canadian National Population Health Survey.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Environmental Health Science and Research Bureau, Health Canada, Vancouver, BC, Canada, Ottawa, ON, Canada.

Few studies have examined the association between air pollution and the trajectory of global health status measures related to the functional impacts of chronic disease. To address this gap, we examined the trajectory of the Health Utilities Index (HUI) over 17 years of follow-up among Canadian National Population Health Survey (NPHS) participants. Annual average nitrogen dioxide (NO) exposures from a national land use regression surface were mapped to 15,631 NPHS participants at their place of residence provided at each follow-up.
