This study aimed to prospectively evaluate the effectiveness, patient satisfaction, and early adverse events of using the hyaluronic acid filler VYC-20L for the treatment of infraorbital hollowing. A total of 21 participants underwent injection of VYC-20L. FACE-Q satisfaction surveys before and after treatment along with early adverse events surveys were conducted. Pre- and posttreatment photos were graded, and the Allergan Infraorbital Hollows Scale was used to assess the difference in infraorbital hollowing. The results showed infraorbital hollowing improvement with VYC-20L was significant ( < 0.001). FACE-Q Satisfaction with Eyes scores on average were 27 points higher after treatment ( < 0.001). The mean FACE-Q Satisfaction with Decision score was 74.1%. The most common short-term adverse symptoms were tenderness (67%), swelling (62%), and bruising (52%). This study concludes that VYC-20L is an effective nonsurgical treatment option for infraorbital hollowing with high patient satisfaction.

Background: Despite the high demand of filler in the infraorbital area, there remains debate on injection practices, precise anatomical placement, and hyaluronic acid (HA) filler behavior.

Objectives: We aimed to contribute to the clinical and anatomic understanding of infraorbital HA injection through a prospective patient injection study in combination with a cadaveric analysis.

Methods: Patients were injected with Volbella XC (JUVÉDERM, Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company, Irvine, CA) into the tear trough region by a single experienced aesthetic plastic surgeon.

Background: Most facelift techniques have limited effect on the nasolabial fold and the more medial part of the face. The facial rejuvenation enhancing cheek (FRENCH) lift can treat both jowl sagging and midface deflation by a monobloc vertical and oblique displacement of the anterior column of the face through an extended subcutaneous dissection.

Objectives: To explain the surgical technique and to show its efficacy on the nasolabial fold, jawline and infraorbital rim.

Plastic and Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery Center, Vietnam National Burn Hospital, Vietnam Military Medical University, Hanoi, Vietnam.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the micro-autologous fat transplantation (MAFT)-gun technique for delivering fat to enhance facial contours, involving 31 participants treated between January 2021 and June 2023.
  • Results showed specific fat volume needs for different facial areas, with an overall high satisfaction rate of 83.9% and no reported complications.
  • The MAFT-gun technique is deemed safe and effective, significantly improving facial aesthetics and satisfaction even after a year post-surgery, suggesting closed-system fat processors as beneficial alternatives.

Article Synopsis
  • The treatment of tear troughs, or the medial infraorbital region, is gaining popularity due to its minimally invasive nature and the use of soft tissue fillers injected with a cannula.
  • In a study involving 123 participants, the clinical outcomes were evaluated six months after injecting an average of 0.26 cc of filler per tear trough, showing significant improvements in depth, hyperpigmentation, fat pseudo-prolapse, and wrinkle severity (all p < 0.001).
  • The findings suggest that this injection technique is effective for reducing the appearance of hollowing under the eyes with few adverse effects, using a method that emphasizes bridging gaps rather than filling completely.

Background: The infraorbital hollow (IOH) is a concavity that interrupts the smooth transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, resulting in a fatigued and aged appearance. Injectable fillers may be utilized to correct volume deficit in the under-eye area, restoring a more youthful appearance.

Objectives: The objective was to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of a cohesive polydensified matrix (CPM) hyaluronic acid (HA) filler with lidocaine (Belotero Balance (+)) for correcting volume deficit in the IOH.
