Tarantula venoms may be a natural source of new vasodilator components useful in pharmacological research. Moreover, biological function data of the venoms are important to enhance the knowledge about the biodiversity and evolution of these species. The present study aims to describe the vasodilatory activity induced by the venom of on isolated rat aortic rings. This venom induced a vasodilator activity that was significantly reduced after incubation with L-NAME or ODQ. Measurements of nitrite concentrations on rat aorta homogenates showed that the venom significantly increased the basal levels. Moreover, the venom attenuates the contraction induced by calcium. These results suggest that venom contains a mixture of vasodilator components that act through the activation of the nitric oxide/cGMP pathway, as well as, through an endothelium-independent mechanism that involves the calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle cells.

Background: We aim to investigate efficacies of Ras homolog (Rho)-associated kinases (ROCK) inhibitors on Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathological proteins in human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-differentiated human neurons and the P301S tau transgenic mouse model (PS19).
Method: Quantitative liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and targeted ELISA were implemented to investigate the effect of treatment with fasudil or its derivatives on the human neurons and brains from PS19 mice. We explored the efficacy of these ROCK inhibitors in reducing tau phosphorylation, and the brain proteomic profiles after their administration in mice.

Background: Impaired interstitial fluid drainage in the brain is indicated by the presence of perivascular β-amyloid (Aβ) deposits and is attributed to alterations in contractility and relaxation of vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs). The brain microvasculature in Alzheimer disease (AD) accumulates amyloid-forming amylin secreted from the pancreas. Here, we tested the hypothesis that cerebrovascular amylin deposits perturbs cerebral Aβ efflux by impairing cerebral vasodilation.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of propranolol hydrochloride tablets and oral solution in neonates with severe IHs. A retrospective cohort study included 184 consecutive neonates diagnosed with severe IHs and treated with propranolol from January 2016 to June 2023. Of these, 126 patients received propranolol tablets, and 58 received propranolol oral solution.

Chronic allodynia stemming from peripheral stump neuromas can persist for extended periods, significantly compromising patients' quality of life. Conventional managements for nerve stumps have demonstrated limited effectiveness in ensuring their orderly termination. In this study, we present a spatially confined conduit strategy, designed to enhance the self-organization of regenerating nerves after truncation.

The effect of immunotherapy for colorectal cancer (CRC) is limited due to anti-tumor immunosuppression. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are also associated with tumor immunity. The aim of this study was to clarify the regulatory relationship between circRNA and anti-tumor immunosuppression in CRC.
