Objectives: To assess perimenopausal users of 52 mg levonorgestrel intrauterine devices (LNG-IUD) regarding the IUD impact after menopause.
Material And Methods: a cross-sectional study with users aged 40 and 49 years old, without cognitive impairment that answered a questionnaire regarding worries and benefits after the menopause due to LNG-IUD use.
Results: Almost half of 221 users (52.9%) have concerns that LNG-IUD use could influence aspects after menopause, 111 (50.3%) that the post-menopause symptoms get worse and 92 (41.6%) that interfere with recognition of menopausal symptoms.
Conclusion: Half of perimenopausal LNG-IUD users expressed concerns about how device use could affect post-menopause symptoms.

The CDC Medical Eligibility Criteria (MEC) states IUDs are category 4 for people with uterine cavity distortions, however there are previous case reports of their successful use in this population.

Objective: To assess the risk of contraceptive failure and adverse events (AEs) associated with the type of progestin when co-administered with psychotropic drugs within a routine clinical practice setting.
Study Design: A pooled analysis of four large, prospective, multinational cohort studies including women with a new prescription of combined oral contraceptives (COCs) and concomitant psychotropic drug use from 13 European countries and the United States. We determined the frequency of contraceptive failures and AEs within six months after COC initiation by progestin type.

Active pharmaceutical ingredients, such as levonorgestrel (LNG), continue to increase in aquatic ecosystems and are detected in environmental matrices; however, their ability to bioaccumulate and cause reproductive, developmental, and biochemical defects in benthic organisms, such as Macrocyclops albidus, is unknown.
