One new 2-arylbenzo[]furan named iteafuranal F () as well as two known analogues () were isolated from the 95% EtOH extract of aerial parts of . Their chemical structures were constructed based on extensive analyses of UV, IR, 1D/2D NMR and HRMS spectra. Antioxidant assays revealed significant superoxide anion radical scavenging capacity of with IC value of 0.66 mg/mL, which was comparable to the efficiency of positive control of luteolin. In addition, the preliminary MS fragmentation patterns in negative ion mode were established to distinguish 2-arylbenzo[]furans with C-10 in different oxidation states: the characteristic loss of CO molecule [M-H-28] was observed for 3-formyl-2-arylbenzo[]furans, and the loss of CHO fragment [M-H-30] for 3-hydroxymethyl-2-arylbenzo[]furans, and the loss of CO fragment [M-H-44] for 2-arylbenzo[]furan-3-carboxylic acids.

Thrombosis, when occurring undesirably, disrupts normal blood flow and poses significant medical challenges. As the skeleton of blood clots, fibrin fibers play a vital role in the formation and fragmentation of blood clots. Thus, studying the deformation and fracture characteristics of fibrin fiber networks is the key factor to solve a series of health problems caused by thrombosis.

Nest fumigation behavior involves the incorporation of fresh green plant fragments that contain ectoparasite-repellent volatile compounds into birds' nests. This behavior is relatively rare among bird species, and there is ongoing debate about whether it benefits parental breeding success. In this study, we experimentally tested whether the inclusion of aromatic-herbal plant fragments in the nests of great tits affects the physiological condition of nestlings, as indicated by blood levels of hematocrit, hemoglobin, glucose, and body condition indices, such as weight and wing length.

Background: Epistasis, the phenomenon where the effect of one gene (or variant) is masked or modified by one or more other genes, significantly contributes to the phenotypic variance of complex traits. Traditionally, epistasis has been modeled using the Cartesian epistatic model, a multiplicative approach based on standard statistical regression. However, a recent study investigating epistasis in obesity-related traits has identified potential limitations of the Cartesian epistatic model, revealing that it likely only detects a fraction of the genetic interactions occurring in natural systems.

Microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitous and are increasing globally, but there is limited information available on their presence in freshwater ecosystems. This research work aims to investigate the abundance, sinking behavior, and risk assessment of MPs in the freshwater River Basantar, Jammu & Kashmir, India. Microplastic abundance in sediments was recorded in the range of 1-6 items g, with a mean abundance of 3 ± 1.

Unlabelled: The scientific and practical interest in studying the biomechanical characteristics of the lens capsule, on the one hand, is associated with its anatomical significance in modern microinvasive phaco surgery, and on the other hand, with investigation of the mechanisms of lens curvature changes during accommodation. Selective study of the biomechanical properties of the lens capsule aims to identify characteristics of various regions and surfaces of the capsule.
Purpose: This study is a comparative analysis of age-related changes in the biomechanical properties of the anterior (AC) and posterior (PC) lens capsules in humans.
