Running-In Behavior and Failure Mechanism Between AgCuNi Alloy and Au-Electroplated Layer.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Tribology in Advanced Equipment, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China.

To avoid wear and tear of the slip ring due to electrical corrosion, the slip ring needs to undergo the running-in process under atmospheric conditions without current after assembly. To address the urgent demand for long-service capability space conductive slip rings in the aerospace field, the running-in behavior and failure mechanism between the AgCuNi alloy and Au-electroplated layer are investigated using a ball-on-disc tribometer in this paper. The results show that the transfer film composed of Au plays an important role in modifying the friction during the sliding process.

Crystal growth of 2-(3,4,5-triphen-ylphen-yl)acetic acid () from aceto-nitrile yields a monosolvate, CHO·CHCN, of the space group 1. In the crystal, the title mol-ecule adopts a conformation in which the three phenyl rings are arranged in a paddlewheel-like fashion around the central arene ring and the carboxyl residue is oriented nearly perpendicular to the plane of this benzene ring. Inversion-symmetric dimers of O-H⋯O-bonded mol-ecules of represent the basic supra-molecular entities of the crystal structure.

Article Synopsis
  • Traditional methods for monitoring pipeline health with ultrasonic guided waves face challenges in transitioning from lab equipment to practical field applications due to the bulkiness of existing technology.
  • This research introduces a compact FPGA-based smart system that effectively identifies and localizes damage in pipes using a specialized algorithm designed for cylindrical shapes.
  • The system shows promising performance in detecting defects through simulations and physical experiments, making it a cost-effective solution for real-time structural health monitoring.

Nonlinear optimization for a low-emittance storage ring.

A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is a powerful global optimization tool, but its results are considerably affected by the crossover parameter η. Finding an appropriate η demands too much computing time because MOGA needs be run several times in order to find a good η. In this paper, a self-adaptive crossover parameter is introduced in a strategy to adopt a new η for every generation while running MOGA.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) pose health risks to children, potentially resulting in stunted growth, obesity, and cognitive deficits, but lack of reliable and noninvasive means to measure PAHs results in poor understanding of exposure patterns and sources in this vulnerable population. In this study, 24 children aged ∼7 years (9 boys and 15 girls) from Montevideo, Uruguay wore silicone wristbands for 8 days to monitor the exposure of 27 PAHs. Wristbands were extracted using a modified ethyl acetate tandem solid phase extraction clean up and then analyzed gas chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry.
