The hydrogenation of bicarbonate, a byproduct of CO captured in alkaline solutions, into formic acid (FA) using glycerol (GLY) as a hydrogen source offers a promising carbon-negative strategy for reducing CO emissions. While Pd-based catalysts are effective in this reaction, they often require high temperatures, leading to low FA yield due to strong hydrogen adsorption on Pd surfaces. In this work, metal-organic framework derived N-doped carbon encapsulated CoNi alloy nanoparticles (CoNi@NC) were prepared, acid-leached, and employed as a support to modulate the electronic structure of Pd-based catalysts.

A dual role of Cohesin in DNA DSB repair.

Nat Commun

Department of Hematopoietic Biology & Malignancy, Division of Cancer Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, USA.

Cells undergo tens of thousands of DNA-damaging events each day. Defects in repairing double-stranded breaks (DSBs) can lead to genomic instability, contributing to cancer, genetic disorders, immunological diseases, and developmental defects. Cohesin, a multi-subunit protein complex, plays a crucial role in both chromosome organization and DNA repair by creating architectural loops through chromatin extrusion.

The development of lanthanide-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) using for luminescence sensing and selective gas adsorption applications is of great significance from an energy and environmental perspective. This study reports the solvothermal synthesis of a fluorine-functionalized 3D microporous Tb-MOF with a face-centered cubic () topology constructed from hexanuclear clusters (TbO) bridged by fdpdc ligands, formulated as {[Tb(fdpdc)(-OH)(HO)]·4DMF} (), (fdpdc = 3-fluorobiphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate). Complex displays a 3D framework with the channel of 7.

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) represents a significant unmet medical need with few options beyond lifelong treatment with nucleoside analogues, which rarely leads to a functional cure. Novel agents that reduce levels of HBV DNA, RNA and other viral antigens could lead to better treatment outcomes. The capsid assembly modulator (CAM) class of compounds represents an important modality for chronic suppression and to improve functional cure rates, either alone or in combination.
