Traditional management strategies primarily focus on glycemic control; however, there is a growing need for comprehensive approaches addressing the complex pathophysiology of diabetes complications. The recent study by Attia explores the potential of a novel therapy combining metformin with cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) and taurine to mitigate T2DM-related complications in a rat model.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, with advanced stages posing significant treatment challenges. Although hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) has emerged as a promising modality for treating advanced HCC, particularly in Asian clinical practice, its adoption in Western medicine remains limited due to a lack of large-scale randomized controlled trials. This editorial reviews and comments on the meta-analysis conducted by Zhou , which evaluates the efficacy and safety of HAIC and its combination strategies for advanced HCC.

Objectives: To evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibilities of Gram-positive and Gram-negative isolates from patients in Jordan between 2010 and 2021, through the Antimicrobial Testing Leadership and Surveillance (ATLAS) programme.
Methods: Medical centres in Jordan collected bacterial isolates from hospitalised patients with defined infection sources between 2010 and 2021 (no isolates collected in 2014). Antimicrobial susceptibility was interpreted using CLSI standards.
