Published: May 2023

Asexual and sexual morphs of saprobic bambusicolous fungi were collected from freshwater and terrestrial habitats in Sichuan Province, China. Taxonomic identification of these fungi was carried out on the basis of morphological comparison, culture characteristics, and molecular phylogeny. Multi-gene phylogeny based on combined SSU, ITS, LSU, and sequence data was performed to determine their phylogenetic placement, and the result showed that these fungi belong to Savoryellaceae. Morphologically, four asexual morphs are similar to and , while a sexual morph well-fits to . Three new species, , , and are identified and described. Two new records, and were recovered from the bamboo hosts in terrestrial and freshwater habitats, respectively. In addition, the nomenclatural confusion of and is discussed.

Two new compounds, 6-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)naphtho[2,1-]furan-2,5-dion () and 3-methyl-6--L-rhamnopyranosyl-2-chromen-2-one (), along with three known compounds (-) were isolated from the rare bambusicolous fungus . The structures were elucidated through the analysis of IR, NMR and HRESIMS spectrographic data. Compound exhibited cytotoxicity against HeLa, HT29, MCF-7 and PC-3 cells, but was not toxic against normal Vero cells.

Molecular phylogeny and morphological characteristics of collections of diatrypaceous fungi from Guizhou Province, China, lead to the establishment of a new genus, , and the identification of four new species and two new combinations. The taxa were found growing on the dead culms of bamboo. The new genus is distinguished by its well-developed, discrete linear stromata with yellow interior tissue and allantoid subhyaline ascospores.
