Solid-state magic angle spinning P NMR spectroscopy is used to identify and quantify phosphorus-containing species in pet foods. The measurement is challenging due to the long spin-lattice relaxation times (s). Data acquisition times are shortened by acquiring data with a tip angle smaller than 90° and shortening the repetition time. However, the spin-lattice relaxation times (s) of the different P compounds are quite different, necessitating a separate measurement for each compound in the pet food. Knowledge of is used to calculate the relative amount of P in the samples. Samples of known concentration are also measured, enabling the quantitative measurement of total phosphorus content.

Lipases, enzymes that perform the hydrolysis of triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol, present a potential paradigm shift in the realms of food and detergent industries. Their enhanced efficiency, energy conservation and environmentally friendly attributes make them promising substitutes for chemical catalysts. Motivated by this prospect, this present study was targeted on the heterologous expression of a lipase gene, employing E.

Nowadays, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles are widely used for packaging drinks and food. However, concerns have been raised about the possible migration of harmful chemicals, particularly phthalates, from these containers into their contents. Therefore, this study investigates the effects of sunlight exposure and PET bottle reuse on phthalate migration, focusing on three common phthalates: bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP).

Objective: To examine the effects of age, sex, year of death/sample collection, and liver histopathology on liver copper concentrations in dogs fed a wide variety of commercial dog foods throughout their lives.
Methods: This study utilized all bioarchived liver samples collected during necropsy at time of death from 2006 to 2022 from dogs housed in a closed feeding colony. Liver samples were analyzed on a dry matter basis for copper concentration by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry and did not require specific criteria for selection.
The EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials (FCM) assessed the safety of the recycling process NGR LSP (EU register number RECYC328). The input is hot washed and dried poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) flakes mainly originating from collected post-consumer PET containers, with no more than 5% PET from non-food consumer applications. The flakes are dried (step 2), melted in an extruder (step 3) and decontaminated during a melt-state polycondensation step under high temperature and vacuum (step 4).

The physical abrasion of plastics from simple everyday entered the food chain, with associated risks recently emphasized. Although many studies have reported the adverse effects of microplastics (MPs) on human, the reproductive implications of continuous exposure to physically abraded polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-MPs remain unexplored. Ingestion of physically abraded PET-MPs (size range: 50-100 µm) in mice from 5 to 34 weeks of age at an annual intake relevant dose of MPs (5 mg week) significantly impaired male reproductive function.
