The relationship between thromboembolic events (TEs) and immune-oncology (IO) agents in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) with inferior-vena-cava (IVC) thrombus has not been explored despite conferring significant morbidity. A late 30s female is diagnosed with mRCC with a level-II IVC thrombus after presenting with back pain. Two weeks post initiation of immunotherapy, she re-presented with bilateral sub-massive pulmonary emboli requiring IVC and pulmonary thrombectomy. This case exposes a potential relationship between mRCC and IVC thrombus with IO agents that creates a critically hypercoagulable state. This issue requires further investigation given the apparent under-reporting of TEs in these patients.

Inferior vena cava (IVC) anomalies are rare congenital pathologies related to variations of agenesis, hypoplasia, or atresia, predisposing patients to thromboembolic events secondary to an alteration in venous drainage with resultant stasis. This is a case report of a 27-year-old male without significant medical history presenting for a fall after playing recreational basketball with associated pain and swelling in his left lower extremity. After his symptoms progressively worsened, he came to the emergency room for an evaluation where an ultrasound (US) of the extremity showed extensive deep vein thromboses (DVT).

Background: The role of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in the treatment of left ventricular thrombus (LVT) after ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains uncertain.
Aims: We aimed to compare the effect of rivaroxaban versus warfarin in patients with STEMI complicated by LVT.
Methods: Adult patients with STEMI and two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography showing LVT were assigned to rivaroxaban (15 mg once daily) or warfarin (international normalised ratio goal of 2.

Traditional mouse models for deep vein thrombosis (DVT), frequently utilized in research focused on cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT), reliably induce thrombus formation by obstructing blood flow (BF) in the inferior vena cava (IVC), which does not occur in humans. Therefore, to develop a new DVT model for CAT studies, we implanted an ameroid constrictor (AC), a hygroscopic casein C-shape device, around the IVC and aorta of immunocompromised mice. We evaluated the thrombus 3 and 8 days post-AC implantation and compared it with the traditional model 2 days post-vena cava ligation.

Tissue-engineered vascular conduits (TEVCs) are a promising blood vessel replacement. In a recent publication in Cell Stem Cell, Park et al. developed TEVCs comprised of decellularized human umbilical arteries lined with shear-trained, human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived endothelial cells (ECs) that resisted thrombosis and exhibited patency upon grafting into the rat inferior vena cava (IVC).
