Enzymatic glucose sensors usually exhibit excellent sensitivity and selectivity but suffer from poor stability due to the negative influence of temperature and humidity on enzyme molecules. As compared to enzymatic glucose sensors, non-enzymatic counterparts are generally more stable but are facing challenges in concurrently improving both sensitivity and selectivity of a trace amount of glucose molecules in physiological samples such as saliva and sweat. Here, a novel non-enzymatic glucose sensor based on nanostructured CuAl alloy films has been fabricated by a facile magnetron-sputtering followed by controllable electrochemical etching approach. Since the metal Al is more reductive than Cu, by selectively etching aluminum in the CuAl alloys, nanostructured alloy films were obtained with increased surface contact area and electrocatalytic active sites which resulted in enhanced glucose-sensing performance. Thus, non-enzymatic glucose sensors based on nanostructured CuAl alloy films not only exhibited a high sensitivity of 1680 μA mM cm but also achieved a reliable selectivity to glucose without interference by other species in physiological samples. Consequently, this study sparked the potential for the development of non-enzymatic biosensors for the continuous monitoring of blood glucose levels with high sensitivity and impressive selectivity for glucose molecules.

The development of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors is limited by the lack of doping methods. We propose surface isovalent substitution as an efficient doping mechanism for 2D semiconductors by revealing the evolution of the structure and electronic properties of 2D Se/Te. Because of the different electronegativity of Se and Te, Se substitution for Te at the specific lattice sites introduces electric dipoles and leads to charge redistribution, which lowers the work function and tunes the Te films from p-type to n-type semiconductors.

This article addresses the knowledge gap regarding the effect of Ti addition on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of the LMD-processed GH3536 alloy in a simulated solution of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The microstructural evolution, corrosion resistance, and passive film characteristics of LMD-processed GH3536 alloy with varying Ti contents were characterized through a variety of techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and a series of electrochemical measurements. The results indicate that the corrosion resistance of the LMD-processed GH3536 alloy significantly improves with increasing Ti content.

Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is one of the most widely studied materials for utilization in the development of artificial implants. Research is mainly aimed at the production and modification of HAp coatings for simplification of the deposition process, cost reduction, and increase in biocompatibility. In this paper, the authors deposited HAp synthetic microparticles by means of matrix-assisted pulsed laser evaporation (MAPLE) on Ti6Al4V alloy plate substrates and obtained uniform HAp coatings without further treatment or modifications.

The external field-assisted hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), beyond modifying electrocatalysts themselves, has garnered significant research attention. However, achieving synergy between multiple fields to enhance the HER performance remains challenging and is not well-explored. Here, NiMnIn Heusler alloy thin films are fabricated using pulsed laser deposition on flexional Cu substrates.

A body-centered cubic (bcc) FeCo(B) is a current standard magnetic material for perpendicular magnetic tunnel junctions (-MTJs) showing both large tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) and high interfacial perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) when MgO is utilized as a barrier material of -MTJs. Since the -MTJ is a key device of current spintronics memory, . spin-transfer-torque magnetoresistive random access memory (STT-MRAM), it attracts attention for further advance to explore new magnetic materials showing both large PMA and TMR.
