Background: The Hekou Torrent Frog () was recently discovered from southern China and northern Vietnam in 2022. The knowledge about natural history and feeding ecology of this species is virtually lacking.

New Information: Based on our recent fieldwork in northern Vietnam, we report a new population of from Ha Giang Province. In this study, we provide novel data on the diet of , based on stomach content analyses of 36 individuals (17 males and 19 females). A total of 36 prey categories with 529 items, comprising 515 items of invertebrates and 14 unidentified items, were found in the stomachs of . The dominant prey items of the species were Hymenoptera (Formicidae), Orthoptera (Acrididae), Lepidoptera (Lepidoptera other), Mantodea (Mantidae) and Araneae. The importance index (Ix) of prey categories ranged from 7.1% to 11.5%. Hymenoptera (Formicidae) had the highest frequency of prey items, found in 36 stomachs.

Background And Aims: Since salinity stress may occur across stages of rice (Oryza sativa L.) crop growth, understanding the effects of salinity at reproductive stage is important although it has been much less studied than at seedling stage.

Methods: In this study, lines from the Rice Diversity Panel 1 (RDP1) and the 3000 Rice Genomes (3KRG) were used to screen morphological and physiological traits, map loci controlling salinity tolerance through genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and identify favorable haplotypes associated with reproductive stage salinity tolerance.

Background: Health systems that are responsive to maternal mental health recognise the importance of integrating mental health services into maternal care. Studies from Vietnam have reported particularly high rates of common perinatal mental health disorders (CPMDs) in both rural and urban areas of the country. Despite the increasing burden of maternal mental health conditions, there is currently no guidance on the screening for CPMDs within maternal care, both antenatal and postnatal.

VD20 broken rice, a byproduct of rice milling, shows significant potential for value-added applications, particularly in functional beverage production. This study investigates the impact of homogenization and pasteurization on the quality and stability of VD20 broken rice-based beverages. Homogenization at speeds 6000 to 12,000 rpm for 5 to 20 min improved product stability, while pasteurization between 80 and 95 °C for up to 20 min ensured microbial safety and extended shelf life.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates morphological variations and identifies a specific plant species by examining herbarium specimens and conducting field research in its type locality.
  • Findings indicate that a plant species originally from Nanchuan County, Chongqing, is actually the same as another species, which is found in various regions of China and Vietnam.
  • The research highlights key characteristics of leaves, inflorescences, and fruits that support this classification, proposing that one species should be considered a synonym of the other and clarifying its geographical distribution.
