A highly functionalized 9,9-disubstituted (phenylethynyl)-fluorene-appended -methyl-7-azaindole derivatives has been synthesized from various fluorene propargylic alcohols and substituted-7-azaindoles using BFOEt as a catalyst. The scope of the reaction was demonstrated by selecting a range of fluorene propargylic alcohols and substituting 7-azaindoles. A plausible reaction mechanism for forming title compounds via propargylic carbocation is postulated. The synthetic transformation of the products has been demonstrated by the Suzuki coupling and Click reaction. The Suzuki coupled compounds - were evaluated for photophysical properties such as absorption, solvatochromism, emission, and Stokes shift and found blue emissive in nature.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with long persistent luminescence (LPL) have attracted extensive research attention due to their potential applications in information encryption, anticounterfeiting technology, and security logic. The strategic combinations of organic phosphor linkers and metal ions lead to tremendous frameworks, which could unveil many undiscovered properties of organics. Here, the synthesis and characterization of a three-dimensional MOF (Cd-MOF) is reported, which demonstrates enhanced blue photoluminescence and a phosphorescent lifetime of 124 ms as compared to the pristine linker (HL) under ambient conditions due to the scaffolding and heavy-atom effects of metal chains in the framework.

Modifying ZnO nanorods with graphene oxide (GO) is crucial for enhancing photocatalytic degradation by boosting the concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the reaction medium. In this study, we present a straightforward chemical synthesis of ZnO nanorods embedded on GO, forming a novel nanocomposite, GOZ. This composite serves as an efficient photocatalyst for the sunlight-driven degradation of methylene blue (MB) and ciprofloxacin (CIP).

We elaborate a method for determining the 0D-1D nanostructure size by photoluminescence (PL) emission spectrum dependence on the nanostructure dimensions. As observed, the high number of diamond-like carbon nanocones shows a strongly blue-shifted PL spectrum compared to the bulk material, allowing for the calculation of their top dimensions of 2.0 nm.

Bright biocompatible fluorescent imaging dyes with red to near-infrared (NIR) emissions are ideal candidates for fluorescence microscopy applications. Pyrene-benzothiazolium hemicyanine dyes are a new class of lysosome-specific probes reported on recently. In this work, we conduct a detailed implementation study for a pyrene-benzothiazolium derivative, BTP, to explore its potential imaging applications in fluorescence microscopy.

This work presents a novel hydrothermally aided sol-gel method for preparation of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with a narrow particle size distribution and varied pore sizes. The method was carried out in alkaline media in presence of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) as dual templates and permitted the synthesis of spherical mesoporous silica with a high surface area (1011.42 m/g).
