The current study investigated the potentially harmful consequences of pure glyphosate or Roundup® on CYP family members and lipid metabolism in newly hatched chicks. On the sixth day, 225 fertilized eggs were randomly divided into three treatments: (1) the control group injected with deionized water, (2) the glyphosate group injected with 10 mg pure glyphosate/Kg egg mass and (3) the Roundup group injected 10 mg the active ingredient glyphosate in Roundup®/Kg egg. The results of the study revealed a reduction in hatchability in chicks treated with Roundup. Moreover, change of Lipid concentration in serum and the liver-treated groups. Additionally, increased liver function enzymes and increased oxidative stress in the glyphosate and Roundup groups. Furthermore, liver tissues showed histological changes and several lipid deposits in glyphosate-treated groups. Hepatic CYP1A2 and CYP1A4 expressions were significantly increased ( < .05) after glyphosate exposure, and suppression of CYP1C1 mRNA expression was significant ( < .05) after Roundup exposure. The pro-inflammatory cytokines genes IFN-γ and IL-1β expression were significantly increased ( < .05) after Roundup exposure. In addition, there were significant differences in the levels of expression genes which are related to lipid synthesis or catabolism in the liver. In conclusion, glyphosate exposure caused disruption of biotransformation, pro-inflammatory and lipid metabolism in chicks.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of liposomal bupivacaine (LB) as part of an opioid-sparing multimodal analgesic protocol on postoperative pain control in cats undergoing limb amputation surgery compared with traditional pain management protocols more heavily reliant on injectable opioid and non-opioid analgesics.
Methods: Medical records of 29 cats that underwent forelimb or hindlimb amputation were reviewed to evaluate postoperative systemic pain medications utilized, appetite and time to discharge as presumptive gauges of postoperative pain. Statistical analysis of the data included Wilcoxon's rank-sum test and Fisher's exact test.

Background: Neuregulin (NRG) family is involved in energy metabolism, among which NRG1 is a neuregulin proved to play a protective role in MAFLD cells. But the presice echanism has not been fully illustrated. This study aimed to investigate the role of NRG1 via the ERK/SIRT1 signaling in the pathogenesis of MAFLD.

CT-guided injection and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the C2 dorsal root ganglion (DRG) is a safe and effective treatment for cervicogenic headache arising from C1-C2 joint arthritis. The C2 nerve root is unique in that it lacks a motor component; RFA can be performed with pain relief in exchange for occipital numbness. This video article outlines the imaging anatomy and technical considerations of this procedure.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition mainly caused by the interaction between the host immune system and periodontal tissue pathogens, and may lead to consequences, such as alveolar bone defects and tooth loss. Incomplete bacterial removal, persistent inflammation and high reactive oxygen species (ROS) environment are the main challenges for periodontal tissue repair and alveolar bone regeneration. In this study, an injectable composite microgel (Gelatin methacryloyl-Phenylboronic acid/Hydroxyadamantane, GPH) loaded with antimicrobial peptide (AMP) and cerium dioxide (CeO) microspheres was developed to achieve a synergistic function of bacteriostasis, immunomodulation, and ROS removal.

Introduction: Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) encompasses multiple symptoms produced by compression of the neurovascular bundle within the thoracic outlet. The subtypes of thoracic outlet are termed for the major affected structure including neurogenic (nTOS), venous (vTOS), and arterial (aTOS) thoracic outlet syndrome. Neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome accounts for over 95 percent of thoracic outlet syndrome cases and occurs from compression of the brachial plexus.
