Unlabelled: Hydatid disease, also known as cystic echinococcosis, is a parasitic infection caused by the larval stage of . It usually invades organs such as the liver and the lungs but can affect any organ. Isolated cardiac involvement is a rare manifestation. We present a case of isolated left ventricle hydatid cyst with negative serological tests, which was treated with surgical removal and confirmed by histopathological examination.
Learning Points: Isolated cardiac hydatid disease is rare and accounts for only 0.5-2% of cases among infected patients.Cardiac hydatidosis may present with a wide variety of clinical manifestations ranging from no symptoms to sudden death; palpitations may be the only complaint.Surgical excision is the treatment of choice for cardiac hydatid disease to avoid high-risk complications.

Objective: Different Acanthamoeba species are among the most ubiquitous organisms causing serious diseases in humans including central nervous system (CNS) and eye infections. Contact lenses, lens care solutions and the hospital environments particularly the indoor and outdoor environments of ophthalmology wards where people are present with different types of eye diseases, are the potential sources of human infection. The purpose of the present study was the molecular investigation of free-living amoebae in the used contact lenses, lens care solutions and hospital samples from the ophthalmology wards and operating rooms in a referral hospital in southeastern Iran.

Background: Hydatid cyst (HC) frequently affects the lungs, making it the second most common site after the liver. This study evaluated the clinical characteristics, surgical procedures, complications, laboratory findings, and factors influencing hospital length of stay (LOS) in patients undergoing surgery for pulmonary hydatid cysts.
Methods: This retrospective observational study included adult patients who underwent surgery for lung HC between 2017 and 2021.
