Department of Surgery II, Faculty of Medicine, Yamagata University, Yamagata, Japan.
Background: With advancements in minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques, such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and robotic surgery, the design of vascular staplers has evolved to meet the requirements of these procedures. Consequently, newer generations of automatic staplers with improved handling and reduced size have been introduced, such as two-row staplers, which are more maneuverable and less bulky than their three-row counterparts.
Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man with lung cancer underwent a right middle and lower lobectomy due to tumor invasion into the central middle bronchial trunk, rendering the preservation of the middle lobe impossible.

Background: The majority of the patients with a solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) of the pleura are asymptomatic, and rupture of an SFT with hemothorax is rare.
Case Presentation: A 48-year-old man was taken by ambulance to our hospital because of sudden onset of left chest pain. Two months before the referral, a tumor was detected in the left upper lobe of the lung by screening computed tomography at another hospital, and further observation was recommended, because the tumor was suspected to be benign.

Background: Primary pericardial mesothelioma (PMPM) is a rare, aggressive, and lethal form of cancer. Due to its rarity, low incidence and poor prognosis, PMPM has no accepted standard-of-care treatment options with management and outcomes often extrapolated from diffuse pleural mesothelioma. Disease-specific studies are needed to better define PMPM.

The patient was an 86-year-old woman. She was brought to the emergency department because of chest pain and respiratory distress symptoms that did not improve. 12-lead electrocardiogram, echocardiography, and blood tests were negative for acute coronary syndrome, but a chest contrast computed tomography( CT) -scan showed pericardial effusion and a coronary artery aneurysm 20 mm in diameter, and punctured pericardial effusion revealed bloody fluid.
