Integrating Model-Informed Drug Development With AI: A Synergistic Approach to Accelerating Pharmaceutical Innovation.

Clin Transl Sci

January 2025

Global Biometrics and Data Management, Pfizer Research and Development, New York, New York, USA.

The pharmaceutical industry constantly strives to improve drug development processes to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and enhance therapeutic outcomes for patients. Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) uses mathematical models to simulate intricate processes involved in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion, as well as pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Artificial intelligence (AI), encompassing techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, and Generative AI, offers powerful tools and algorithms to efficiently identify meaningful patterns, correlations, and drug-target interactions from big data, enabling more accurate predictions and novel hypothesis generation.

Transducers used in acoustic logging while drilling (ALWD) must be mounted on a drill collar, and their radiation performance is dependent on the employed mounting method. Herein, the complex transmitting voltage response of a while-drilling (WD) monopole acoustic source was calculated through finite-element harmonic-response analysis. Subsequently, the acoustic pressure waveform radiated by the source driven by a half-sine excitation voltage signal was calculated using the complex transmitting voltage response.

Biomarkers constitute a valuable tool to diagnose both the incidence and the prevalence of chronic diseases and may help to inform the design and effectiveness of precision nutrition interventions. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be the foremost cause of death all over the world. While the reasons that lead to increased risk for CVD are multifactorial, dyslipidemias, plasma concentrations of specific lipoproteins, and dynamic measures of lipoprotein function are strong biomarkers to predict and document coronary heart disease incidence.

Background: In Myanmar, progress towards malaria elimination has stagnated in some areas requiring deployment of new tools and approaches to accelerate malaria elimination. While there is evidence that networks of community-based malaria workers and insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) can reduce malaria transmission in a variety of settings, evidence for the effectiveness of other interventions, such as topical repellents, is limited. Since malaria transmission in Myanmar occurs outdoors, mainly among forest-goers, this study tested the effectiveness of topical repellents in combination with supplemental ITN distribution and strengthened networks of malaria workers.

Many participants persist through the living kidney donation process, although it is challenging, multifaceted, and burdensome, particularly during the predonation evaluation (PDE) phase. This study uses a constructivist grounded theory approach to analyze the experiences of living kidney donors (LKDs) undergoing evaluation who shared their perspectives in blog reflections. One hundred five (105) blog posts met the inclusion criteria.
