CYP1A1 is a metabolizing enzyme and key polymorphisms in its gene may contribute to the risk of ischemic stroke. This study aimed to investigate the association of the rs4646903 and rs1048943 polymorphisms of with stroke risk in a meta-analysis and a bioinformatic approach. An electronic search was conducted and, after the screening procedure, six eligible studies were included in the meta-analysis. Some bioinformatic tools were employed to analyze the effects of rs4646903 and rs1048943 on gene function. There was a significant association between rs4646903 and the reduced risk of ischemic stroke, whereas there was no significant association for rs1048943. analysis showed that rs4646903 and rs1048943 polymorphisms could affect the gene expression and cofactor affinity, respectively. Based on these results, rs4646903 may be a protective genetic factor against ischemic stroke.

Improvement of post-stroke outcomes relies on patient adherence and appropriate therapy maintenance by physicians. However, comprehensive evaluation of these factors is often overlooked. This study assesses secondary stroke prevention by differentiating patient adherence to antithrombotic treatments (ATT) from physician-initiated interruptions or switches.

Fast and sensitive multivalent spatial pattern-recognition for circular RNA detection.

Department of Pharmacology, Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Critical Care Medicine, School of Medicine, Southeast University, Nanjing, China.

While circular RNAs (circRNAs) exhibit lower abundance compared to corresponding linear RNAs, they demonstrate potent biological functions. Nevertheless, challenges arise from the low concentration and distinctive structural features of circRNAs, rendering existing methods operationally intricate and less sensitive. Here, we engineer an intelligent tetrahedral DNA framework (TDF) possessing precise spatial pattern-recognition properties with exceptional sensing speed and sensitivity for circRNAs.

Objective: Here, we aim to investigate whether D-dimer (DD)/fibrinogen (FIB) ratio or combination of DD and FIB contribute to the prognosis of stroke and stroke subtypes.

Methods: 1413 patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) were recruited. We measured DD and FIB levels on admission and followed up with patients at discharge and 90-day following discharge.

Background: Dupuytren's disease (DD) is a type of fibroproliferative disease that involves the palmar aspect of the hand. Although many benign fibroproliferative diseases have been shown to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, the relationship between DD and myocardial infarction (MI) or stroke has not been fully elucidated.

Methods: A total of 35,909 patients with DD and a control cohort with 1,077,270 age- and sex-matched participants from the Korean National Health Insurance database were included.

Background And Objective: Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) with inflammatory risk are important contributors to cardiovascular disease, but no definitive information is available in large artery atherosclerotic (LAA) stroke. This study aims to investigate the association between NETs with related inflammatory biomarkers and prognosis of LAA stroke in the Chinese population.

Methods: A prospective study involving 145 LAA stroke cases and 121 healthy controls was conducted.
