Understanding the frequency and structural context of discrete noncovalent interactions between nucleotides is of pivotal significance in establishing the rules that govern RNA structure and dynamics. Although T-shaped contacts (i.e., perpendicular stacking contacts) between aromatic amino acids and nucleobases at the nucleic acid-protein interface have recently garnered attention, the analogous contacts within the nucleic acid structures have not been discussed. In this work, we have developed an automated method for identifying and unambiguously classifying T-shaped interactions between nucleobases. Using this method, we identified a total of 3261 instances of T-shaped (perpendicular stacking) contacts between two nucleobases in an array of RNA structures from an up-to-date data set of ≤3.5 Å resolution crystal structures deposited in the Protein Data Bank.

A pair of cyclophane-encapsulated [Cu(μ-E)] complexes (E = S and Se) were characterized by resonant X-ray diffraction anomalous fine structure (DAFS), revealing unexpected polarization among the three Cu sites attributed to long-range effects of π-stacking interactions with cocrystallized benzene molecules. The resonant K-edge energies of individual Cu sites within the cluster molecules were found to vary as a function of distance from the cocrystallized benzene. This pattern was interpreted in the context of T-shaped, edge-to-face π-stacking with the assistance of theoretical charge density difference calculations.

The combined action of multiple particles and cavitation bubbles can severely damage hydraulic machinery. Combining the Kelvin impulse theory and the results of high-speed photography experiments, this paper researches the dynamic behaviors of a single bubble located between three equal-sized spherical particles. Non-spherical morphological evolution characteristics in the collapse stage of the bubble are described.

Although metal halide perovskites are positioned as the most powerful light-harvesting materials for sustainable energy conversion, there is a need for a thorough understanding of molecular design principles that would guide better engineering of organic hole-transporting materials, which are vital for boosting the performance and stability of perovskite solar cells. To address this formidable challenge, here, we developed a new design strategy based on the curved N-doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon merged with T-shaped phenazines being decorated with (phenyl)-di--methoxyphenylamine (OMeTAD)─N-PAH23/24 and -3,6-ditertbutyl carbazole (TBCz)─N-PAH25/26. As N-PAH23/24 exhibited satisfying thermal stability, the comparative studies performed with various experimental and simulation methods revealed a pronounced correlation between the depth of the central cyclazine core and the form of the T-shape units.

T-shaped 14 Electron Rhodium Complexes: Potential Active Species in C-H Activation.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

Anorganisch-Chemisches Institut, Universität Heidelberg, Im Neuenheimer Feld 270, 69120, Heidelberg, Germany.

Two T-shaped 14-electron rhodium complexes 2 a and 2 b, "framed" and thus stabilized by PNP pincer ligands have been synthesized. The bis(t-butyl)phosphine derived PNP-rhodium complex 2 a was isolated from pentane as the more stable cyclometalated Rh(III) hydrido complex and found to be in equilibrium with the T-shaped 14e Rh(I) complex 2 aT which itself could be directly crystallized upon change of the solvent. The cyclometallation is suppressed using an adamantyl substituted PNP ligand to give the analogous T-shaped Rh(I) species 2 b, stabilized through an agostic interaction with one of the adamantyl C-Hs.
