Introduction: Some idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) cases experience repetitive systemic corticosteroid treatment, but studies focusing on repetitive systemic corticosteroid administration have not been reported. Thus, we investigated the clinical characteristics and usefulness of repetitive systemic corticosteroid treatment in ISSHL cases.
Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 103 patients who received corticosteroids only in our hospital (single-treatment group), and 46 patients who presented at our hospital after receiving corticosteroids in a nearby clinic and were subsequently treated with corticosteroids again in our hospital (repetitive-treatment group). Clinical backgrounds, hearing thresholds, and hearing prognosis were assessed.
Results: The final hearing outcomes were not different between the two groups. Further, in the repetitive-treatment group, statistical differences were found between the good and poor prognosis groups in the number of days to start corticosteroid administration ( = 0.03), the dose of corticosteroid ( = 0.02), and the duration of corticosteroid administration ( = 0.02) at the previous facility. Multivariate analysis revealed a significant difference in the dose of corticosteroids administered by the previous clinic ( = 0.004).
Conclusion: The repetitive systemic corticosteroid administration might play a supplementary role in hearing improvement, and initial sufficient corticosteroid administration would lead to good hearing outcomes in an early phase of ISSHL.

An RCA product is a promising scaffold for the construction of DNA nanostructures, but so far, there is no RCA scaffold-based dynamic reconfigurable nanorobot for biological applications. In this contribution, we develop an intracellular stimuli-responsive reconfigurable coiled DNA nanosnake (N-Snake) by using incomplete aptamer-functionalized (A) DNA tetrahedrons (T) to fold a long tandemly repetitive DNA strand synthesized by rolling circle amplification reaction (R) with the help of palindromic fragment (P). A DNA-assembled product, ARTP, including spiked aptamers, can retain the structural integrity even if exposed to fetal bovine serum (FBS) for 24 h and displays substantially enhanced target molecule-dependent cellular internalization efficiency.

Localized inflammatory reactions in patients with past procedural history of intradermal injections can quickly drive the clinician's attention towards a diagnosis of soft-tissue infection in the context of symptoms such as fever, malaise, and local induration of the adipose panniculus. However, in patients with a long-term history of granulomatous events, a rheumatologic approach must be taken into consideration when the clinical course overwhelms the odds for more conventional diagnoses. In this case, a 39-year-old female patient who underwent bilateral lower limbs intradermal filllers presented with a two-year clinical course of repetitive flares of external bilateral hip tenderness, pain that limits her walking, soft-tissue nodular inflammation, redness, fever and a soft mobile nonpainful right supraclavicular lymphadenopathy.
