Two new species of the family Diplectanidae Monticelli, 1903 from the gills of (Lacepède, 1802) (Teleostei: Sciaenidae) off the northern Australian coast are described. Previous studies have either morphological or genetic results, whereas this study combines morphological and advanced molecular methods to provide the first detailed descriptions for species of Diesing, 1858 from Australia utilising both methodologies. Two new species, n. sp. and n. sp., are morphologically described and genetically characterised using the partial nuclear 28S ribosomal RNA gene (28S rRNA) and the internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) partial sequence.

Species-level delineation of digenetic trematodes is complex and can be best achieved by integrative taxonomy using both genetic characterisation and morphological analysis. Two new Bucephalidae species of the genus Diesing, 1858 are described here based on specimens collected from the intestine of Jordan & Seale following this approach. Adults of n.

Monogeneans of the genus Dactylogyrus Diesing, 1850, the largest genus in the family Dactylogyridae, mostly parasitize the gills of cyprinoid hosts; however, only 3 Dactylogyrus' mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes) are studied so far. The aim of this research is to extend our understanding of the mitogenomes of Dactylogyrus. We sequenced the mitogenomes of D.
