Cartilage acidic protein-1 (CRTAC1) is a secreted glycoprotein with roles in development, function and repair of the nervous system. It is linked to ischemic stroke, osteoarthritis and (long) COVID outcomes, and has suppressive activity in carcinoma and bladder cancer. Duplicate testes lined in series were observed in the right scrotum of a 6-week-old Sprague-Dawley rat in a single-dose toxicity study. Of the two right testicles, one was spherical and less than half the size of a normal testis. The other was oval-shaped, slightly smaller than a normal testis, and possessed clear, tortuous blood vessels similar to those of a normal testis.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of time, temperature, and burial in a natural environment on the viability of chondrocytes in porcine femoral condyles using confocal laser scanning microscopy. Hind trotters from 10 pigs were buried or left unburied. Samples were collected daily and stained with a combination of vital dyes (calcein-AM and ethidium homodimer-1).
