Acute kidney injury could occasionally complicate wasp stings. We describe two such cases. The first one developed acute kidney injury as a result of rhabdomyolysis and hemolysis, whereas the other patient developed acute kidney injury as part of multiorgan dysfunction syndrome resulting from shock and rhabdomyolysis. Both remained dependent on intermittent hemodialysis for a short period of time before recovering spontaneously. These cases highlight different pathophysiological processes leading to acute kidney injury, and the importance of timely diagnosis to achieve favourable clinical outcomes.

Background: Ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), mainly known for its neuroprotective properties, belongs to the IL-6 (interleukin-6) cytokine family. In contrast to IL-6, the effects of CNTF on the vasculature have not been explored. Here, we examined the role of CNTF in AngII (angiotensin II)-induced hypertension.

Rationale: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a clinical syndrome associated with a multitude of conditions. Although renal replacement therapy (RRT) remains the cornerstone of treatment for advanced AKI, its implementation can potentially pose risks and may not be readily accessible across all healthcare settings and regions. Elevated lactate levels are implicated in sepsis-induced AKI; however, it remains unclear whether increased lactate directly induces AKI or elucidates the underlying mechanisms.

Background: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an immune-mediated fibrous inflammatory disease. Recently, an association between IgG4-RD and tuberculosis (TB) has been reported.
Case Summary: We report a 56-year-old man complaining of a cough and poor appetite for 2 months and oliguria for 1 day.

Background: Whey protein's biochemical properties make it an ideal nutritional supplement for patients with cancer, especially in perioperative care. Thus, the present study aims to assess the efficacy of whey protein supplementation (WPS) compared to standard care in enhancing postoperative outcomes for patients undergoing comprehensive surgical staging for gynecological cancer.
Methods: In an open-label, randomized controlled trial conducted at Rajavithi Hospital between November 28, 2023 and July 8, 2024, 61 patients scheduled for comprehensive surgical staging were enrolled.

Melatonin (Mel) is known for various biological function, such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities, as well as its ability to modulate immune responses, which can protect mitochondria and improve the prognosis of sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI). However, there is a multitude of theories regarding how Mel exerts its immune-modulating functions, with no consensus reached as of yet. We propose the protective effects of Mel on mitochondria are closely related to the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) signaling pathway in the immune-inflammatory response.
