Metabolic rewiring underlies effective macrophages defense to respond disease microenvironment. However, the underlying mechanisms driving metabolic rewiring to enhance macrophage effector functions remain unclear. Here, we demonstrated that the metabolic reprogramming in inflammatory macrophages depended on the acetylation of CLYBL, a citramalyl-CoA lyase, at lysine 154 (K154), and blocking CLYBL-K154 acetylation restricted the release of pro-inflammatory factors.

Advancing anthocyanin extraction: Optimising solvent, preservation, and microwave techniques for enhanced recovery from merlot grape Marc.

Food Chem

December 2024

Wine Science Programme, School of Chemical Sciences, The University of Auckland | Waipapa Taumata Rau, 23 Symonds Street, Auckland 1010, New Zealand. Electronic address:

Grape marc, a by-product of winemaking, is a rich source of bioactive compounds, yet efficient extraction methods suitable for industrial application remain underexplored. This study presents an integrated, three-stage approach to optimise the extraction of anthocyanins, phenolics, and tannins from Merlot grape marc. In the first stage, 12 solvents were evaluated using conventional solvent extraction, with 50 % ethanol (EtOH) acidified with hydrochloric acid (HCl) achieving the highest anthocyanin recovery after eight extraction cycles (0.

Herein we report the synthesis of a novel di-O-acylated DNJ derivative, conceived to study whether iminosugar derivatization with a lipophilic acyl moiety could positively affect its antibacterial properties. The well-known PS-TPP/I/ImH activating system was used to readily install the acyl chains on the iminosugar, leading to the desired compound in high yield. Biological assays revealed that a di-O-lauroyl DNJ derivative enhanced the antibacterial effect of gentamicin and amikacin against S.

The papillomavirus E2 protein regulates the transcription, replication, and segregation of viral episomes within the host cell. A multitude of post-translational modifications have been identified which control E2 functions. A highly conserved di-lysine motif within the transactivation domain (TAD) has been shown to regulate the normal functions of the E2 proteins of BPV-1, SfPV1, HPV-16, and HPV-31.

The Synthesis, Crystal Structure, Modification, and Cytotoxic Activity of α-Hydroxy-Alkylphosphonates.

Molecules

January 2025

Department of Organic Chemistry and Technology, Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Műegyetem rkp. 3., 1111 Budapest, Hungary.

A series of α-hydroxy-alkylphosphonates and α-hydroxy-alkylphosphine oxides were synthesized by the Pudovik reaction of acetaldehyde and acetone with dialkyl phosphites or diarylphosphine oxides. The additions were performed in three different ways: in liquid phase using triethylamine as the catalyst (1), on the surface of AlO/KF solid catalyst (2), or by a MW-assisted NaCO-catalyzed procedure (3). In most of the cases, our methods were more efficient and more robust than those applied in the literature.
