Background And Aim: Postbiotics are functional bioactive compounds or bioactive molecules with beneficial effects on health and functional activities in humans or livestock, produced by probiotic bacteria or yeast. Several postbiotics, including enzymes, short-chain fatty acids, amino acids, extracellular polysaccharides, microbial cell fragments, and teichoic acids, are currently being widely studied. This study aimed to explore the potential of secondary metabolites of and as lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeast isolated from Budu (fermented fish) which can act as postbiotics through rumen fermentation.

Marine algae are renowned for their health benefits due to the presence of functional bioactive compounds. In this context, this study aims to valorize the extract of a seaweed, (), through phytochemical characterization using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), as well as in vitro and in silico evaluation of its biological activities (antioxidant and antimicrobial). Phytochemical characterization revealed that the ethanolic extract of (DdEx) is rich in phenolic compounds, with a total of 22 phycocompounds identified.

The uncontrolled overproduction of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and Reactive Nitrogen Species (RNS) is linked to chronic inflammation, although they are also essential signaling molecules for the immune system against infectious agents. Bioactive compounds hold promise as functional bioactive nutrients, contributing to the immunomodulatory response. This study investigates the potential of chickpea protein hydrolysate to modulate ROS/RNS stress and inflammatory responses in a cellular low-grade chronic inflammatory model.

This study presents a comprehensive multimodal analytical study of an Egyptian ritual Bes-vase, of the 2nd century BCE employing cutting-edge proteomics, metabolomics, genetics techniques, and synchrotron radiation-based Fourier Transformed Infrared microSpectroscopy (SR µ-FTIR) to characterize organic residues of its content. We successfully identified the presence of various functional, bioactive, psychotropic, and medicinal substances, shedding light on the diverse components of a liquid concoction used for ritual practices in Ptolemaic Egypt. Using LC-MS/MS with a new methodological approach, we identified key proteins and metabolites, enabling the identification of botanical sources, confirmed by genetic sequences.
