Quasi-two-dimensional nanosheets exhibit novel properties and promising applications in optoelectronic flexible devices. Research on non-layered III-V semiconductor nanosheets has been constrained by their covalent bonding connections. In this study, GaAs/AlGaAs heterojunction nanosheets were prepared by releasing an epitaxial layer, and their optical properties were investigated by adopting steady-state and transient absorption spectroscopy.

PGLa, an antimicrobial peptide (AMP), primarily exerts its antibacterial effects by disrupting bacterial cell membrane integrity. Previous theoretical studies mainly focused on the binding mechanism of PGLa with membranes, while the mechanism of water pore formation induced by PGLa peptides, especially the role of structural flexibility in the process, remains unclear. In this study, using all-atom simulations, we investigated the entire process of membrane deformation caused by the interaction of PGLa with an anionic cell membrane composed of dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) and dimyristoylphosphatidylglycerol (DMPG).

Conducting genomic selection in plant breeding programs can substantially speed up the development of new varieties. Genomic selection provides more reliable insights when it is based on dense marker data, in which the rare variants can be particularly informative. Despite the availability of new technologies, the cost of large-scale genotyping remains a major limitation to the implementation of genomic selection.

In an era of interdisciplinary scientific research, new methodologies are necessary to simultaneously advance several fields of study. One such case involves the measurement of electron spin effects on biological systems. While magnetic effects are well known in biology, recent years have shown a surge in published evidence isolating the dependence on spin, rather than magnetic field, in biological contexts.
