Electrothermal processes were studied in pyroresistive composites based on high-density polyethylene (HDPE) containing 8 vol.% carbon black (CB), 8 vol.% carbon fibers (CF), and their mixture 4 vol.% CB + 4 vol.% CF. It is shown that the kinetic heating curves of composites are well described by an exponential dependence with a certain heating rate constant for each type of composite. After a short heating time, the equilibrium temperature is reached in the sample. When the applied voltage exceeds a certain value, the value decreases due to the presence of the positive temperature coefficient of resistance (PTC) effect. Due to the PTC effect, the composites exhibit a self-regulating effect relative to the . Relations between the applied voltage, electric power, and equilibrium temperature are found, the value depends on the applied voltage according to the quadratic law whereas there is a linear relationship between the and electric power. A possible application of such pyroresistive composites is resistance welding of plastics using a heating element (HE) made of a pyroresistive material. The use of HDPE-CB composite to create HE for resistance welding is demonstrated and the welded joint of HDPE parts obtained using HE is shown.

This study explores the preparation of lubricating oleo-dispersions using electrospun nanofibrous mats made from low-sulfonate lignin (LSL) and polycaprolactone (PCL). The rheological and tribological properties of the oleo-dispersions were significantly modulated for the first time through the exploration of LSL/PCL ratio and electrospinning conditions such as applied voltage, distance between the tip and collector, flow rate, ambient humidity, and collector configuration. Adequate uniform ultrathin fibers and Small-amplitude oscillatory shear (SAOS) functions of the oleo-dispersions, with storage modulus values ranging from 10 to 10 Pa at 25 °C, were obtained with a flow rate of 0.

Polylactic acid (PLA) composite fibers were obtained using melt electrospinning, in which a high voltage was applied to the nozzle of the 3D printer. Filaments for melt electrospinning were prepared by using an extruder operated at 155 °C. PLA was mixed with polycaprolactone (PCL; 95:5, 90:10, and 85:15 by wt %), zinc oxide (ZnO; 0.

We report a new approach for fabricating gate-tunable thermal emissivity surfaces by spraying them on graphene ink. The devices consist of a multilayer graphene (MLG)/porous alumina membrane/gold stack, in which the MLG is deposited by spraying the graphene ink onto the porous membrane using an airbrush. The graphene ink consists of μm-sized flakes of MLG suspended in a solution of polyvinylpyrrolidone and ethylene glycol.

Water-soluble vitamins play essential roles in normal body functions and metabolic activities. However, few methods have simultaneously measured all nine water-soluble vitamins in biological matrices. In this study, we developed a sensitive and accurate method for the simultaneous measurement of thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), nicotinamide (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), 4-pyridoxic acid (B6), biotin (B7), 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid (B9), ascorbic acid (VC), and methylmalonic acid (MMA) in human serum.

Integrating two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors into nanophotonic structures provides a versatile platform for advanced optoelectronic devices. A key challenge in realizing these systems is to achieve control over light emission from these materials. In this work, we demonstrate the modulation of photoluminescence (PL) in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) coupled to surface lattice resonances in metal nanoparticle arrays.
