Article Synopsis
  • - Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is a prevalent and aggressive cancer with high mortality rates, primarily due to traditional treatments like surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy leading to poor survival outcomes and complications.
  • - Innovative therapies such as immunotherapy, photodynamic therapy, and photothermal therapy are limited by ineffective targeting and results, while early detection methods are hindered by various challenges.
  • - The rise of nanotechnology offers promising new strategies for HNSCC treatment through the use of nanoparticles (NPs), which can enhance drug delivery and targeting to tumors, showcasing unique advantages and highlighting the need for further research to overcome existing clinical hurdles.

Within the cell, chemical reactions are often confined and organized through a modular architecture. This facilitates the targeted localization of molecular species and their efficient translocation to subsequent sites. Here we present a cell-free nanoscale model that exploits compartmentalization strategies to carry out regulated protein unfolding and degradation.

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Frontiers Science Center for Transformative Molecules and State Key Laboratory of Metal Matrix Composites, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240, China.

The interplay of primary organic ligands and inorganic secondary building units (SBUs) has led to a continual boom of reticular chemistry, particularly metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Subtle variations of organic ligands can have a significant impact on the ultimate structural topology and consequently, the material's function. However, the role of ligand chirality in reticular chemistry has rarely been explored.

With the nanotechnology boom, artificially designed nucleic acid nanotubes have aroused interest due to their practical applications in nanorobotics, vaccine design, membrane channels, drug delivery, and force sensing. In this paper, computational study was performed to investigate the structural dynamics and mechanical properties of RNA nanotubes (RNTs), DNA nanotubes (DNTs), and RNA-DNA hybrid nanotubes (RDHNTs). So far, the structural and mechanical properties of RDHNTs have not been examined in experiments or theoretical calculations, and there is limited knowledge regarding these properties for RNTs.
