AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to compare self-confidence levels and clinical performance scores of dental students trained through traditional versus comprehensive methods in India.
  • Students trained with the comprehensive method reported higher self-confidence (3.41) compared to those using the traditional method (3.07), with statistical significance (p <0.05).
  • However, while traditional training led to a slightly higher median clinical performance score (2.88) than comprehensive training (2.44), the difference wasn’t statistically significant (p = 0.460), suggesting the potential benefits of combining both training approaches.

Article Abstract

Aim To compare students' self-confidence levels and clinical performance scores between traditional and comprehensive clinical training methods in dental schools in India. Methods A snowball sampling of undergraduate dental students who had completed their final year during 2021-2022 was undertaken. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to investigate students' self-confidence in performing 35 clinical procedures on a 5-point Likert scale. Additionally, the clinical performance score in external practical assessment during final year was assessed to correlate the self-confidence levels with traditional and comprehensive clinical training methods. Results Students reported a higher level of self-confidence trained under the comprehensive (3.41 ± 0.40) compared with the traditional method (3.07 ± 0.50) (p <0.05). Interestingly, the median clinical performance score was higher for students using the traditional method (2.88) than for those using the comprehensive method (2.44); however, no significant difference was observed (p = 0.460). The correlation between self-confidence and clinical performance scores was strongly positive (r = 0.521).Conclusion This study concluded that both traditional and comprehensive clinical training methods have strengths and weaknesses. Combining these two methods could improve clinical training in India.

Cognitive training is a promising intervention for psychological distress; however, its effectiveness has yielded inconsistent outcomes across studies. This research is a pre-registered individual-level meta-analysis to identify factors contributing to cognitive training efficacy for anxiety and depression symptoms. Machine learning methods, alongside traditional statistical approaches, were employed to analyze 22 datasets with 1544 participants who underwent working memory training, attention bias modification, interpretation bias modification, or inhibitory control training.

Typhoon localization detection algorithm based on TGE-YOLO.

Sci Rep

College of Mathematics and Computer Science, Guangdong Ocean University, Zhanjiang, 524088, China.

To address the problems of complex cloud features in satellite cloud maps, inaccurate typhoon localization, and poor target detection accuracy, this paper proposes a new typhoon localization algorithm, named TGE-YOLO. It is based on the YOLOv8n model with excellent high-low feature fusion capability and innovatively achieves the organic combination of feature fusion, computational efficiency, and localization accuracy. Firstly, the TFAM_Concat module is creatively designed in the neck network, which comprehensively utilizes the detailed information of shallow features and the semantic information of deeper features, enhancing the fusion ability of features at each layer.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The Chinese medicine sappanwood is primarily sourced from the dried heartwood of the medicinal plant Caesalpinia sappan Linn., which has been found with a variety of valuable properties including anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-viral effects. Preliminary investigations have demonstrated that sappanwood showed strong anti-SARS-CoV-2 M effects, but the key constituents responsible for SARS-CoV-2 M inhibition and their anti-M mechanisms have not been uncovered.

Background: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies have shown great improvement in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, yet no bibliometric analysis on TCM therapies for COPD exists.

Summary: A comprehensive literature search was conducted on TCM therapies for COPD within the past decade, utilizing the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases. To analyze collaborative patterns among countries/regions, institutions, and authors, as well as identify influential references and emerging research trends, CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were employed.

We investigate the role of values in motivating the dissolution of marriage. Drawing on comprehensive value frameworks, we study how cultural values explain cross-national variation in divorce, how personal values explain further variation within nations, and how the two value systems interact together. In three archival studies, including more than 100,000 participants from over 55 countries, we study attitudes toward divorce as well as actual divorce.
