The purpose of this study was to describe the experience of energy healing practitioners (specifically, Healing Touch) use of distance healing to provide insight into the methods, practice, and experience from the providers' perspective. One hundred and fifty-three energy workers participated in the open-ended survey. Overall, the experience of using distance healing during the pandemic was positive for practitioners in both giving and receiving. Practitioners also reported primarily positive feedback from their patients. A few respondents reported feeling hesitant about using distance healing and preferred hands-on work. However, distance healing was generally seen as providing flexibility to the practitioners' work, connection, and enhanced understanding of the human energy field.

Chronic wounds are a burden to millions of patients and healthcare providers worldwide. With rising incidence and prevalence, there is an urgent need to address non-healing wounds with novel approaches. Impaired wound healing has been shown to be associated with wound microbiota, and multiple bacterial species are known to contribute to delays in closure.

Characteristics and Differences in the Antler Velvet Microbiota During Regeneration.

Microorganisms

December 2024

Joint International Research Laboratory of Modern Agricultural Technology, Ministry of Education, Jilin Agricultural University, Changchun 130118, China.

The skin surface has a complex and dynamic ecosystem inhabited by a diverse microbiota. The wound formed by antler velvet shedding can naturally achieve regenerative restoration, but the changes in microbial composition that occur during antler velvet regeneration are largely unknown. In this study, we analyzed the antler velvet microbiota of sika deer at 15 days (Half) and 30 days (Full) post-pedicle casting using 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical and radiographic efficacy of micro crestal flap-alveolar ridge preservation following extraction of mandibular molars with severe periodontitis compared with natural healing, and to preliminarily propose the surgical indication.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data from patients with mandibular molars with severe periodontitis either receiving micro crestal flap-alveolar ridge preservation (MCF-ARP group) or undergoing natural healing in department of periodontology, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology from September 2013 to June 2021. Cone-beam computed tomography scannings performed before/immediately after extraction (as baseline) and repeated before implantation (after the extraction socket healing) were used to measure the ridge width, height and volumetric changes of the sockets, and the proportion of guided bone regeneration (GBR) during implant therapy were compared between the two groups.

Purpose: Dexamethasone has shown promising efficacy in alleviating pain and enhancing outcomes undergoing TKA. However, an optimal route of administration, dosage, and treatment duration have not yet been established. This study is to assess the effects of intravenous dexamethasone administration on postoperative pain management and prognosis in patients undergoing TKA.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the presence of the "cortex sign" (corticalization) in femoral diaphysis fractures determined by the dynamization of nails because of delayed union. The study included 12 patients with a closed transverse femoral fracture (AO 32a3) treated with dynamization (all the screws distal of the nail were removed) because of delayed healing and followed up for at least 2 years. These patients were evaluated for the presence of bone union, cortex-like sclerosis (corticalization) distal to the nail, and the distance of the corticalization from the joint during follow- up after dynamization.
