In this work, we report the electrochemical reactivity of MoTe for various metal ions with special emphasis on Al ion storage in aqueous electrolytes for the first time. A stable discharge capacity of 100 mA h g over 250 cycles at a current density of 1 Ag could be obtained for the Al ion, whereas inferior storage capacities were shown for other metal ions.
