Specifically engineered three-dimensional (3D) and 1D morphologies are expected to play significant roles in the development of next-generation dye-sensitized solar cells. In this study, using a hydrothermal approach without a surfactant or template, we attempted to synthesize a 3D hierarchical rutile titanium dioxide (TiO ) architecture by varying the growth temperature and time. X-ray diffraction patterns of the synthesized TiO correlated well with rutile TiO . Scanning electron microscopy images exhibited different nanostructures, such as nanorods, aggregated nanorods, and 3D TiO microflowers comprised of nanorods at 100°C, 130°C, and 160°C, respectively, after growth for 6 h. A significantly improved efficiency was observed for the TiO microflowers. The TiO microflowers exhibited an efficiency of 1.16%, short-circuit current density of 12.8 mA cm , open-circuit voltage of 0.692 V, and fill factor of 0.67.

The current work outlines the preparation of a TiO nanotube (NT) layer electrochemically formed on the surface of a clinically-relevant titanium alloy anodisation. This NT layer was subsequently modified alternating current electrodeposition to incorporate copper micro- and nanoparticles on top of and within the NTs. Physical characterisation of the NT layer and the copper-incorporated NTs was carried out through analysis of the surface morphology, elemental composition, crystallinity, and stability SEM, EDX, XRD, and ICP-OES, respectively.

Glutathione (GSH) is a bioactive tripeptide with important physiological functions in animals, plants, and microorganisms. GSH participates in various biochemical reactions in vivo and is known for its antioxidant, anti-allergy, and detoxification properties. This study introduces an innovative photoelectrochemical (PEC) method for GSH detection, leveraging a fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) electrode enhanced by TiO nanoflowers and graphitic carbon nitride quantum dots (g-CNQDs).

Defects and disorder work as controlling parameters to alter the electronic structure of nanostructures and significantly influence their electronic, magnetic, and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. In this study, we found that defect engineering is an effective strategy for tailoring the linear and nonlinear optical properties of Cu-doped titanium oxide (TiO) flower-shaped nanostructures. The concentration of chemical doping of Cu in the TiO lattice creates intermediate defect states that impact electronic bandgap reduction and tunable defect luminescence.
