Speckle pattern analysis become a widespread method for remote sensing of various biomedical parameters. This technique is based on tracking the secondary speckle patterns reflected from a human skin illuminated by a laser beam. Speckle pattern variations can be translated into the corresponding partial carbon dioxide (CO) state (High or Normal) in the bloodstream. We present a novel approach for remote sensing of human blood carbon dioxide partial pressure (PCO) based on speckle pattern analyses combined with machine learning approach. The blood CO partial pressure is an important indicative parameter for a variety of malfunctions in the human body.

Background: Ultrasound lung surface motion measurement is valuable for the evaluation of a variety of diseases. Speckle tracking or Doppler-based techniques are limited by the loss of visualization as a tracked point moves under ribs or is dependent.
Methods: We developed a synthetic lateral phase-based algorithm for tracking lung motion to overcome these limitations.

: To explore the potential association between positive ANA serology and all-cause mortality in a large cohort of patients, including those with and without rheumatological conditions and other immune-related diseases. : A retrospective cohort study analyzed all-cause mortality among 205,862 patients from Clalit Health Services (CHS), Israel's largest health maintenance organization (HMO). We compared patients aged 18 and older with positive ANA serology (n = 102,931) to an equal number of ANA-negative controls (n = 102,931).

Background: Subcortical ischemic vascular dementia (SIVD) is a common subtype of vascular dementia. Currently, the bilateral common carotid artery stenosis (BCAS) mouse model is the most suitable SIVD rodent model. In this study, we investigated the functional and structural impairments in the hippocampus 1 month after BCAS.

We report on conditions of invariance of the transmitted pattern in the propagation through a periodic waveguide, the incident wave having no effect on the intensity pattern of the transmitted field. This phenomenon is reminiscent of that observed when illuminating a disordered medium in the regime of Anderson localization, as a consequence of the contribution of a single transmission eigenchannel to the transmitted wave. It is shown that the freezing of the transmitted wave is not intrinsically related to the disorder and that, whatever the frequency, it can also be observed in a regular, periodic system, provided that at most one Bloch mode is propagating.

The study was designed to investigate the pattern of intraventricular Hemo-Dynamic Forces (HDF) and myocardial performance during exercise in Elite Cyclists (EC). Transthoracic stress echocardiography was performed on nineteen EC and thirteen age-matched sedentary controls (SC) at three incremental exercise intensities based on Heart Rate Reserve (HRR). Left Ventricular (LV) HDF were computed from echocardiography long-axis data sets using a novel technique based on endocardial boundary tracking, both in apex-base and latero-septal directions.
