Borderline personality disorder (BPD) has been described as a condition of intolerance of aloneness. This characteristic drives distinguishing criteria, such as frantic efforts to avoid abandonment. Both BPD and loneliness are linked with elevated mortality risk and multiple negative health outcomes.

Goal: Excessively lengthy wait times for appointments with clinicians are a major source of frustration for patients, and difficulties with access represent a public health problem facing populations across all societies. As delays in care have been associated with inferior outcomes, same-day appointments have been proposed as a patient-centric means of improving healthcare delivery. However, this paradigm represents a radical shift from conventional scheduling tactics, and skepticism has long existed regarding its feasibility and real-world applicability to clinical practice.

Background: Reducing perinatal HIV transmission and optimizing maternal and child health (MCH) outcomes in high HIV prevalence settings is an urgent, but complex, priority. Extant interventions over-emphasize individual-level provider and patient behaviors, and neglect critical health systems-level changes. The 'Integrated Management Team to Improve Maternal-Child Outcomes (IMPROVE)' study implemented a three-part, patient-centered, health-systems-level intervention to improve MCH and HIV outcomes in Lesotho.

Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death in the United States, yet effective preventive measures receive minimal healthcare funding. This disparity may stem from public underestimation of these diseases' impact and controllability, with distorted media coverage overemphasizing sensational risks and underemphasizing chronic illnesses. This study compares media coverage of mortality risks to objective measures of death rates to investigate such distortions.
