Background: Transesophageal electrophysiological study (TEEPS) is a minimally invasive procedure that helps in evaluating the risk of recurrence of supraventricular tachycardia based on the inducibility of the tachycardia. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic capability, negative predictive value of noninducibility of tachycardia and safety of TEEPS among the Indian pediatric population.

Methods: It is a retrospective single-center observational study of all patients who underwent TEEPS from January 01, 2014, to December 31, 2020.

Results: Twenty-two TEEPS procedures were done in eighteen children with three children undergoing more than one procedure. The median duration of follow-up was 42.97 months (8.52-82.12 months). Out of the 22 procedures, four were conducted for acute tachycardia termination, two for tachycardia suppression assessment, and sixteen to assess tachycardia inducibility off medications. Tachycardia was noninducible in nine children and inducible in six children. Two children had clinical recurrence of tachycardia on follow-up. Out of these two children, one had noninducibility of tachycardia on TEEPS. The negative predictive value of TEEPS was 88.89% in this study. None of the children had any postprocedure complication.

Conclusions: TEEPS is a safe procedure. It is used to assess the efficacy of medication in the suppression of arrhythmia. The noninducibility of tachycardia has a high negative predictive value and is a good indicator of nonrecurrence of clinical tachycardia on midterm follow-up.

Patients presenting with suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in the emergency department (ED) require rapid and accurate electrocardiographic (ECG) evaluation. This study aims to assess conventional ECG markers for diagnosing non-ST-elevation ACS (NSTE-ACS) in patients with chest discomfort and right bundle branch block (RBBB). A nested case-control design was employed to compare patients with RBBB admitted to the ED for suspected cardiac ischemia, focusing on those who developed NSTE-ACS versus those who did not.

Prediction of pulmonary embolism by an explainable machine learning approach in the real world.

Sci Rep

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Changhai Hospital, The Second Military Medical University, Shanghai, People's Republic of China.

In recent years, large amounts of researches showed that pulmonary embolism (PE) has become a common disease, and PE remains a clinical challenge because of its high mortality, high disability, high missed and high misdiagnosed rates. To address this, we employed an artificial intelligence-based machine learning algorithm (MLA) to construct a robust predictive model for PE. We retrospectively analyzed 1480 suspected PE patients hospitalized in West China Hospital of Sichuan University between May 2015 and April 2020.

Background: Left ventricular (LV) myocardial contraction patterns can be assessed using LV mechanical dispersion (LVMD), a parameter closely associated with electrical activation patterns. Despite its potential clinical significance, limited research has been conducted on LVMD following myocardial infarction (MI). This study aims to evaluate the predictive value of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-derived LVMD for adverse clinical outcomes and to explore its correlation with myocardial scar heterogeneity.

Background & Objective: Timely intervention for Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) could effectively reduce the mortality rate of ACS patients. This study aimed to investigate the clinical significance of miR-30c-5p for ACS and to provide a convenient biomarker for diagnosing of ACS.

Methods: Baseline information was collected from a total of 173 subjects (98 ACS subjects and 65 healthy subjects).

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in combination with antiangiogenic drugs have shown promising outcomes in the third-line and subsequent treatments of patients with microsatellite stable metastatic colorectal cancer (MSS-mCRC). Radiotherapy (RT) may enhance the antitumor effect of immunotherapy. However, the effect of RT exposure on patients receiving ICIs and targeted therapy remains unclear.
