The synthesis of group 9 pyridine-diimine complexes M(PDI)X and [M(PDI)L] (M = Co, Rh; PDI = 1,1'-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)bis(-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)ethan-1-imine); X = CP, CCH; L = CO, BuNC) bearing a series of strong-field ligands, including the cyaphide ion (C[triple bond, length as m-dash]P), is reported. A combined experimental and computational comparative study of the group 9 PDI cyaphide complexes Co(PDI)(CP) and Rh(PDI)(CP), as well as the N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) gold(i) cyaphide complex Au(IDipp)(CP) (IDipp = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene), reveals the σ donor and π acceptor properties of the κ-cyaphido ligand, and allow us to suggest a position for this ion in the spectrochemical series.

Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) represents a significant advancement in therapeutic medicine, offering unique molecular and cellular characteristics that make it exceptionally suitable for medical applications. The bullet-shaped morphology, RNA genome organization, and cytoplasmic replication strategy provide fundamental advantages for both vaccine development and oncolytic applications. VSV's interaction with host cells through the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) and its sophisticated transcriptional regulation mechanisms enables precise control over therapeutic applications.

The biological characteristics of early transmitted/founder (T/F) variants are crucial factors for viral transmission and constitute key determinants for the development of better therapeutics and vaccine strategies. The present study aimed to generate T/F viruses and to characterize their biological properties. For this purpose, we constructed 18 full-length infectious molecular clones (IMCs) of HIV from recently infected infants.

Recently, using a panel of recombinant CHO cell lines, we identified the coxsackie and adenovirus receptor (CAR) and histo-blood group antigens (HBGAs) or sialic acid as the minimum requirement for susceptibility to rhesus enteric calicivirus (ReCV) infections. While ReCVs cause lytic infection in LLC-MK2 cells, recombinant CHO (rCHO) cell lines did not exhibit any morphological changes upon infection. To monitor infectious virus production, rCHO cell cultures had to be freeze-thawed and titrated on LLC-MK2 monolayers.

Unlabelled: Di(2-ethhylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a common plastic rubberizer. DEHP leaches from plastic matrices and is under increasing scrutiny as numerous studies have linked it to negative human health manifestations. Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB) is a human pathogen that typically causes subclinical infections but can sometimes cause severe diseases such as pancreatitis, myocarditis, and meningoencephalitis.

Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) acyclovir (ACV) resistance is acquired by mutations in the viral thymidine kinase (TK) or DNA polymerase (DNApol) genes. We previously obtained an ACV-resistant clone (HSV-1_VZV_TK_clone α) by sequential passages of HSV-1_VZV-TK, a recombinant virus which lacked its endogenous TK activity and instead expressed the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) TK ectopically. HSV-1_VZV_TK_clone α had been generated using an HSV-1_BAC in the presence of increasing concentrations of ACV.
