Introduction: In the past 2 decades, cervical cancer screening guidelines in the United States have undergone numerous revisions with recent greater emphasis on primary high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing.

Materials And Methods: We examine the trends of Papanicolaou test and hrHPV testing at our large academic center across 4 years (2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021) over a 15-year period. The number of ThinPrep Papanicolaou and hrHPV tests, as well as the triggers for HPV testing, were retrospectively analyzed.

Results: A total of 308,355 Papanicolaou tests and 117,477 hrHPV tests were reported across the 4 years. The number of Papanicolaou tests performed decreased nearly 3-fold over the study period, with only 43,230 Papanicolaou tests performed in 2021. The HPV test to Papanicolaou test ratio increased: 17% of Papanicolaou tests had an associated HPV test in 2006, whereas 72% of Papanicolaou tests ordered in 2021 had a companion hrHPV. The use of co-testing also increased. Overall, 73% were co-tests and 27% were reflexively ordered in the 4 one-year time periods. Co-tests constituted only 46% of HPV tests in 2006, but this increased to 93% in 2021. The percentage of positive hrHPV results decreased; in 2006, 18.3% of cases were positive, dropping to 8.6% in 2021 due to the marked increase in co-testing. Stratifying by diagnostic category, hrHPV results have remained relatively constant.

Conclusion: With the numerous recent revisions of cervical screening guidelines, screening strategies at our institution reflected these changes in clinical practice. Papanicolaou and HPV co-testing became the most common screening method for women 30 to 65 years of age in our cohort.

Background: Young working women who devote most of their time to jobs and household chores may experience conflicts when faced with a cervical cancer screening decision. This study aimed to assess the acceptability and feasibility of a Web-based decision aid on cervical cancer screening by young working women, and to preliminarily examine the effects of the decision aid on the knowledge level, risk perception, decisional conflicts, screening decision and screening uptake.

Method: This was a pilot randomised controlled trial.

In the past several years, a few cervical Pap smear datasets have been published for use in clinical training. However, most publicly available datasets consist of pre-segmented single cell images, contain on-image annotations that must be manually edited out, or are prepared using the conventional Pap smear method. Multicellular liquid Pap image datasets are a more accurate reflection of current cervical screening techniques.

Background: Although cervical cancer (CC) is highly preventable through appropriate screening methods like the Papanicolaou (Pap) test, which enables early detection of malignant and precancerous lesions, access to such screening has not been equitable across social groups. Sex workers and people with records of incarceration are among the most under-screened populations in Ontario. Little is known about the acceptability and feasibility of HPV self-sampling (HPV-SS) as an alternative cervical cancer screening method for these groups.

Purpose: Since 1990, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) has offered free cervical cancer screening to low-income, uninsured patients, increasing single time point screening and early detection rates. Little is known about NBCCEDP's longitudinal effectiveness. The objective of this study was to assess utilization of Kansas's NBCCEDP, early detection works (EDW) for one-time versus serial screening and compare rates of cervical dysplasia between groups.

In 2018, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) introduced acetic acid visual inspection (AAVI) screening program and treatment of cervical precancers with cryotherapy in replacement of Pap smear intervention in Namibia. The study examines the effective use of AAVI-and-cryotherapy treatment on HPV-diagnosed women. Female patients of the reproductive age (20-49 years) group visiting 2 Namibian healthcare facilities for AAVI and cryotherapy treatment were investigated using a cross-sectional approach.
