Globalization and international development in language education have inspired a shift from the learning of traditional College English to English for Specific Purposes (ESP). This article begins with a section on the methodology used to develop the literature review. From various literatures, a historical perspective was first presented for the period, 1962 to the present day, and accompanied by a review on the teaching approaches. The purpose was to reveal emerging trends in ESP development and forefront the strength of association between ESP development and the changes in teaching approaches. Then it focuses on the relationship between needs analysis and ESP, as needs analysis is well recognized as a vital ESP characteristic and it is given a comprehensive revisit as an update in ESP development. The review continues with some insights into recent studies from various countries to reflect on various aspectual developments of current ESP practices that illustrate the dynamics of growing research agendas that have implications for current and future ESP research directions. Finally, future vistas for ESP development and teaching are affirmed. The paper concludes on the note on the importance of knowing past and future ESP developments, and the prioritizing of effective teaching based on soundly designed materials tailored to particular student-centered needs and wants.

We introduce Hydrogen-Exchange Experimental Structure Prediction (HX-ESP), a method that integrates hydrogen exchange (HX) data with molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to accurately predict ligand binding modes, even for targets requiring significant conformational changes. Benchmarking HX-ESP by fitting two ligands to PAK1 and four ligands to MAP4K1 (HPK1), and comparing the results to X-ray crystallography structures, demonstrated that HX-ESP successfully identified binding modes across a range of affinities significantly outperforming flexible docking for ligands necessitating large conformational adjustments. By objectively guiding simulations with experimental HX data, HX-ESP overcomes the long timescales required for binding predictions using traditional MD.

Airway pathology is a complex and incompletely mastered field. Historically, its management was rudimentary, with tracheostomies performed in ancient Egypt, and progress remained stagnant for millennia. Significant advances began in the late 19 century, followed by notable surgical and anesthetic progress in the mid-20 century.

Long-term Mechanical Circulatory Support in Cardiogenic Shock Secondary to Acromegaly. Case report.

Rev Esp Anestesiol Reanim (Engl Ed)

January 2025

Departamento de ECMO, Fundación Cardiovascular de Colombia, Floridablanca, Colombia. Electronic address:

Heart failure is a complication that may develop in patients diagnosed with acromegaly. This complication can progress to cardiogenic shock, which in cases like the one described, may be refractory to optimal medical management, necessitating the use of mechanical circulatory support as a bridge to decision. Given the specific morphology of this patient's heart, the likelihood of finding a suitable donor in our environment was very low.

This study proposes an enhanced Smith Predictor (ESP) based Modified repetitive control (MRC) technique to develop a precise tracking performance of the input delayed double boost converter model, which is highly influenced by disturbances and saturation nonlinearity. A group of inequalities is derived on the basis of Lyapunov stability concept, which are in the form of linear-matrix-inequalities (LMIs) to guarantee the asymptotic stability and tracking performance of the considered delayed double boost converter. To be more specific, the proposed Lyapunov method not only provides the asymptotic stability of the system but also design the controller parameters when the feasibility of the derived LMIs are analyzed.
