In cases of intrauterine fetal death (IUFD), autopsy and placenta pathology can provide additional information to sonographic findings. We assessed the frequency of prenatally missed relevant diagnoses. A retrospective evaluation of fetal autopsies from 2006 to 2021 was performed and were classified as: i) agreement, ii) cases where autopsy revealed additional findings, or iii) postmortem findings which changed the diagnosis. A total of 199/251 spontaneous IUFD and 52/251 induced abortions were included. In spontaneous IUFD, placenta pathologies were the leading cause of death (89%). Full agreement was found in most cases (91% and 87% in spontaneous IUFD and induced abortion, respectively), while additional findings (7% and 12%) and major discrepancies (each 2%) were detected less frequently. In some cases where major findings were missed, autopsy could establish a diagnosis.

Background: Aspirin has proved its efficacy in reducing the rate of preeclampsia in singleton pregnancy, however, there is discrepancy about the efficient dosage that should be used. While some societies recommend daily 75-81mg, others recommend higher dosage (160mg). This discrepancy is due to the lack of randomized controlled studies that compare these two dosages.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease primarily impacting women of childbearing age. While pregnancy and hormonal stress can trigger SLE flare-ups, the effects of assisted reproductive therapies (ARTs) on SLE patients are not well defined. We conducted a search of PubMed/Medline, Embase, and CENTRAL until March 20, 2024, to find observational studies assessing the prevalence of SLE flares and pregnancy outcomes following ARTs.

Background: A dolutegravir (DTG)-based antiretroviral regimen has been rolled out for pregnant women in low- and middle-income countries since 2020. However, available safety data are limited to a few clinical trials and observational studies. Hence, we present real-world pregnancy and birth outcome safety data from a large sample multicenter cohort study in Ethiopia.

Purpose: Fetal intra-abdominal umbilical vein varix (FIUVV) can cause thrombosis, fetal growth restriction (FGR), and intrauterine fetal death (IUFD). However, its management and evaluation to avoid fetal risks have not been elucidated. The aim of this study was to develop a novel method to evaluate fetal risks, including FGR and fetal dysfunction via frequent ultrasound examinations.
