Phylogenetic relationship of species isolated from keratitis using and gene sequences.

Background And Objectives: species are known to be one of the common causes of keratitis. This study was conducted to identify spp. causing keratitis and to investigate their genetic diversity using and gene sequences.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-four clinical isolates of were isolated from the patient with keratitis. Phylogenetic analysis of two-locus of the 24 clinical isolates and three reference strains was carried out using the maximum parsimony and RAxML methods.

Results: Based on gene sequences of the 24 clinical isolates, 17, 4, and 3 isolates were identified as species complex (FSSC), species complex (FFSC), and , respectively. FFSC include (n=1), (n=1), (n=1), and (n=1), respectively.

Conclusion: Given that sequence of a sole gene can be challenging and on the other hand, due to the high resistance to antifungal drugs, identification of species is of substantial significance. In this study, by designing a novel set of primers for the area and using primer, we were able to differentiate 24 spp. isolated from patients with keratitis.

Detection and quantification of disease-related biomarkers in wastewater samples, denominated Wastewater-based Surveillance (WBS), has proven a valuable strategy for studying the prevalence of infectious diseases within populations in a time- and resource-efficient manner, as wastewater samples are representative of all cases within the catchment area, whether they are clinically reported or not. However, analysis and interpretation of WBS datasets for decision-making during public health emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, remains an area of opportunity.
