Multi-Omics Study Reveals Nc886/vtRNA2-1 as a Positive Regulator of Prostate Cancer Cell Immunity.

J Proteome Res

Noncoding RNA 886 has emerged as a pivotal regulatory RNA with distinct functions across tissues, acting as a regulator of protein activity by directly binding to protein partners. While it is well recognized as a tumor suppressor in prostate cancer, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. To discover the principal pathways regulated by nc886 in prostate cancer, we used a transcriptomic and proteomic approach analyzing malignant DU145, LNCaP, PC3, and benign RWPE-1 prostate cell line models transiently transfected with in vitro transcribed nc886 or antisense oligonucleotides.

Dissociating goal from outcome during action observation.

Cereb Cortex

December 2024

Department of Psychology, Harvard University, 33 Kirkland Street, Cambridge, MA 02138, United States.

Understanding the goal of an observed action requires computing representations that are invariant to specific instantiations of the action. For example, we can accurately infer the goal of an action even when the agent's desired outcome is not achieved. Observing actions consistently recruits a set of frontoparietal and posterior temporal regions, often labeled the "action observation network.

Angle information assisting skeleton-based actions recognition.

PeerJ Comput Sci

November 2024

National Engineering Laboratory for Cyber Science and Technology, Shangu Cyber Security Technology Company Limited, Zhengzhou, Henan, China.

In human skeleton-based action recognition, graph convolutional networks (GCN) have shown significant success. However, existing state-of-the-art methods struggle with complex actions, such as figure skating, where performance is often unsatisfactory. This issue arises from two main factors: the lack of shift, scale, and rotation invariance in GCN, making them especially vulnerable to perspective distortions in 2D coordinates, and the high variability in displacement velocity, which depends more on the athlete's individual capabilities than the actions themselves, reducing the effectiveness of motion information.

Mechanisms of computation in sensorimotor cortex must be flexible and robust to support skilled motor behavior. Patterns of neuronal coactivity emerge as a result of computational processes. Pairwise spike-time statistical relationships, across the population, can be summarized as a functional network (FN) which retains single-unit properties.

Queering critical consciousness: Measurement and implications of critical consciousness among sexual and gender minority youth.

Res Hum Dev

November 2024

Department of Counseling, Developmental, & Educational Psychology, Lynch School of Education and Human Development, Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA.

Developmental research on critical consciousness (CC) offers insight into processes that empower youth to challenge oppressive realities. This concept has been examined predominantly among low income Black and Latinx youth. We consider how CC is relevant to sexual and gender minority (SGM) youth from different racial/ethnic backgrounds with the goal of expanding CC research.
