Soluble iron and sulfate in acid mine drainage (AMD) can be greatly removed through the formation of minerals facilitated by seed crystals. However, the difference in the effects of jarosite and schwertmannite as endogenous seed crystals to induce AMD mineralization remains unclear. This paper intends to study the effect of Fe oxidation and Fe mineralization in the biosynthesis of minerals using different addition amounts and methods of jarosite or schwertmannite. The results showed that the addition amount and method of different seed crystals had no effect on the Fe bio-oxidation but would change the Fe mineralization efficiency. With the same amount of seed crystals added, jarosite exhibited a higher capacity to promote Fe mineralization than schwertmannite. Adding seed crystals before the initiation of Fe oxidation (0 h) could significantly promote Fe mineralization efficiency. With the increase of seed crystals, jarosite could not only shorten the time required for mineral synthesis but also improve the final mineral yield, whereas schwertmannite could only shorten the time required for mineral synthesis. When Fe was completely oxidized to Fe (48 h), the supplementary of jarosite could still effectively improve Fe mineralization efficiency, but the addition of schwertmannite no longer affected the final mineralization degree.

One new azaphilone derivative () from in ordinary medium, one new phthalide derivative (), a microbial transformation product of ingredients by , a pair of new austdiol enantiomers (+)- and (-)-, one new epsilon-caprolactone derivative (), and one new ophiobolin-type sesterterpenoid () from the in host medium were reported. The structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds - could completely inhibit the germination of rice seeds at 50 μg/mL, which is higher than that of the positive control.

Chiral plasmonic crystals with 5-fold symmetries were synthesized from Au icosahedra, decahedra, and pentatwinned nanorods, unraveling the effects of seed twinning and aspect ratio on chiral overgrowth directed by L-glutathione. The influence of seed size on the overgrowth from pentatwinned nanorods was also studied, giving insight into the role volumetric strain plays in chiral crystal formation. Single particle reconstructions were obtained using electron tomography, and optical simulations on the measured structures verify their optical chirality.

Background: The World Professional Association for Transgender Health guidelines Standards of Care 8 draw on ethical arguments based on individual autonomy, to argue that healthcare and other professionals should be advocates for trans people. Such guidelines presume the presence of medical services for trans people and a degree of consensus on medical ethics. Very little is known, however, about the ethical challenges associated with both providing and accessing trans healthcare, including gender affirmation, in the Global South.

This narrative review explores the benefits and risks of cannabinoids in kidney health, particularly in individuals with pre-existing renal conditions. It discusses the roles of cannabinoid receptor ligands (phytocannabinoids, synthetic cannabinoids, and endocannabinoids) in kidney physiology. The metabolism and excretion of these substances are also highlighted, with partial elimination occurring via the kidneys.

During the preparation of single-domain (S-D) REBaCuO (RE-123) superconducting bulks, the seed crystals can serve as templates for crystal growth, guiding the newly formed crystals to grow in a specific direction, thereby ensuring the consistency of the crystal orientation within the sample. However, the infiltration temperature is typically restricted to approximately 1050 °C when employing NdBaCuO (Nd-123) crystal seeds in the traditional top-seeded infiltration growth (TSIG) technique for producing single-domain Y-123 bulk superconductors. In the present study, to overcome the temperature limitations of the heat treatment process, the optimized YO +011 IG (011 refers to BaCuO powder) method was employed to fabricate a group of single-domain Y-123 bulks with a high-temperature infiltration (1000-1300 °C).
