Accurately assessing the geometric features of curvilinear structures on images is of paramount importance in many vision-based measurement systems targeting technological fields such as quality control, defect analysis, biomedical, aerial, and satellite imaging. This paper aims at laying the basis for the development of fully automated vision-based measurement systems targeting the measurement of elements that can be treated as curvilinear structures in the resulting image, such as cracks in concrete elements. In particular, the goal is to overcome the limitation of exploiting the well-known Steger's ridge detection algorithm in these applications because of the manual identification of the input parameters characterizing the algorithm, which are preventing its extensive use in the measurement field. This paper proposes an approach to make the selection phase of these input parameters fully automated. The metrological performance of the proposed approach is discussed. The method is demonstrated on both synthesized and experimental data.

As the trajectory of developing advanced electronics is shifting towards wearable electronics, various methods for implementing flexible and bendable devices capable of conforming to curvilinear surfaces have been widely investigated. In particular, achieving high-performance and stable flexible transistors remains a significant technical challenge, as transistors are fundamental components of electronics, playing a key role in overall performance. Among the wide range of candidates for flexible transistors, two-dimensional (2D) molybdenum disulfide (MoS)-based transistors have emerged as potential solutions to address these challenges.

Topological indices, derived from molecular graphs, provide valuable numerical descriptors for the comprehensive analysis of pharmaceuticals. These indices are pivotal in the physicochemical characterization and predictive assessment of various drugs. In this study, we calculate several degree-based topological indices for a range of migraine treatment medications, including aspirin, caffeine, eletriptan, ergotamine, sumatriptan, rizatriptan, verapamil, diclofenac, frovatriptan, and droperidol.

The protective effect of parity has been demonstrated for cancer of the breast, ovary, and endometrium but no studies have estimated the effect of each subsequent birth in women with 10 or more children or grand-grand parity women, nor compared the linear relationship of the three cancers sites. Here, we aim to explore these relationships based on the Norwegian 1960 Census. The question of parity in present marriage was answered by 385,816 women born 1870-1915, a period with high fertility.

The keystone design perforator island flap (KDPIF) was first described by Behan in 2003 as a pliable flap, suitable for all body areas thanks to its curvilinear shape, which made it apt to fit mostly all cutaneous defects. In this article, we aim to share our experience using KDPIF for the reconstruction of different defects. A retrospective analysis of patients who underwent cutaneous excision after trauma or tumor resection and reconstruction with a KDPIF at our department from 2020 to 2023 was performed.

Background: Primary thyroid lymphoma (PTL) is a rare malignancy of the thyroid gland that poses significant clinical challenges due to its rarity and the varied therapeutic approaches it demands. Although recent years have seen an increasing focus on PTL, there is a notable lack of bibliometric analyses that consolidate the evolving research within this field. This study aims to analyze and highlight the research hotspots and trend changes in PTL, elucidating their clinical implications and guiding future research.
