Drug resistance (DR) in is the main problem in fighting tuberculosis (TB). This pathogenic bacterium has several types of DR implementation: acquired and intrinsic DR. Recent studies have shown that exposure to various antibiotics activates multiple genes, including genes responsible for intrinsic DR. To date, there is evidence of the acquisition of resistance at concentrations well below the standard MICs. In this study, we aimed to investigate the mechanism of intrinsic drug cross-resistance induction by subinhibitory concentrations of antibiotics. We showed that pretreatment of with low doses of antibiotics (kanamycin and ofloxacin) induced drug resistance. This effect may be caused by a change in the expression of transcriptional regulators of the mycobacterial resistome, in particular the main transcriptional regulator .

Background: Drug-resistant tuberculosis remains a major obstacle in ending the global tuberculosis epidemic. Deployment of molecular tools for comprehensive drug resistance profiling is imperative for successful detection and characterisation of tuberculosis drug resistance. We aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of a new class of molecular diagnostics for drug-resistant tuberculosis.

In this study, we developed a modified NRA (MONRA) to determine the first and second-line drug susceptibilities of 5 reference ATCC strains and 42 clinical M. tuberculosis isolates. Unlike conventional NRA, which is often performed in solid media or 7H9 broth, the MONRA is performed in a different medium, AYC.

Background: WHO issued the first edition catalogue of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) mutations associated with drug resistance in 2021. However, country-specific issues might lead to arising complex and additional drug-resistant mutations. We aimed to fully reflect the characteristics of drug resistance mutations in China.

Bacterial keratitis is a common form of inflammation caused by the bacterial invasion of the corneal stroma after trauma. In extreme cases, it can lead to severe visual impairment or even blindness; therefore, timely medical intervention is imperative. Unfortunately, widespread misuse of antibiotics has led to the development of drug resistance.
