Attaining sub-Kelvin temperatures remains technologically challenging and often relies on the scarce resource He, unless employing adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration. Herein, the active coolant typically consists of weakly coupled paramagnetic ions, whose magnetic interaction strengths are comparable in energy to the relevant temperature regime of cooling. Such interactions depend strongly on inter-ion distances, fundamentally hindering the realization of dense coolants for sub-Kelvin refrigeration.

Intercellular mitochondria transfer is an evolutionarily conserved process in which one cell delivers some of their mitochondria to another cell in the absence of cell division. This process has diverse functions depending on the cell types involved and physiological or disease context. Although mitochondria transfer was first shown to provide metabolic support to acceptor cells, recent studies have revealed diverse functions of mitochondria transfer, including, but not limited to, the maintenance of mitochondria quality of the donor cell and the regulation of tissue homeostasis and remodelling.

Optimization of MoNiCr Alloy Production Through Additive Manufacturing.

One of the concepts behind Generation IV reactors is a molten salt coolant system, where the materials for the reactor itself and for the primary and secondary circuit components are subjected to extreme chemical and thermal stresses. Due to the unavailability of these materials, a nickel-molybdenum alloy known as MoNiCr has been developed in the Czech Republic. This paper discusses the manufacturing process for the MoNiCr alloy, covering conventional casting technology, forming, powder atomization, additive manufacturing (AM) using the directed energy deposition (DED-LB) process, and final heat treatment.

Rotor shafts are the most heavily loaded and accident-prone parts of powerful turbine generators, which are cooled using hydrogen. To eliminate damage sustained during operations, repair work was carried out, including the removal of defective parts, surfacing, and turning. This study tested the machinability of the rotor shaft using prototypes made from 38KhN3MFA steel.
