Background: A proportion of patients due to anatomical variation do not receive chest compressions over the left ventricle. Transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) has the potential to impact survival rates by identifying the area of maximal compression (AMC), potentially improving forward flow and systemic perfusion in cardiac arrest. There is a paucity of data regarding the use of TOE during out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in the pre-hospital setting, with most data coming from studies performed in hospital.

Introduction And Importance: Spondylolysis is a pars interarticularis defect often associated with instability and pain. While commonly involving the inferior level, it can rarely present with disc degeneration or herniation at the superior level. Such coexistence poses unique biomechanical and clinical challenges, particularly in younger patients who require solutions that preserve spinal motion and minimize future degeneration.

This consensus statement is the product of a workshop at the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society Annual Scientific Meeting 2024 with representation of the United Kingdom Diving Medical Committee (UKDMC) present, and subsequent discussions included the entire UKDMC. A large right-to-left shunt across a persistent (patent) foramen ovale (PFO), an atrial septal defect (ASD) or a pulmonary shunt is a risk factor for some types of decompression sickness (DCS). It is agreed that routine screening for a right-to-left shunt is not currently justifiable, but certain high risk sub-groups can be identified.

Objective: To overcome limitations of traditional ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) for controlled donation after circulatory death (cDCD) lungs, this study aimed to evaluate a novel pulmonary abdominal normothermic regional perfusion (PANRP) technique, which we uniquely designed, for in situ assessment of lungs from cDCD donors.
Methods: We modified the abdominal normothermic regional perfusion circuit for simultaneous lung and abdominal organ assessment using independent extracorporeal membrane oxygenation components. Blood was oxygenated via a membrane oxygenator and returned to the body, with pulmonary flow adjusted to maintain pressure < 25 mmHg.

Purpose: Return to work (RTW) after a major traumatic injury (MTI; traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multi-trauma orthopaedic injury) is an important rehabilitation outcome. This study aimed to explore the experience of early vocational rehabilitation (EVR) after MTI, and RTW barriers/facilitators.
Methods: Adopting a qualitative design, 24 people with MTI were interviewed about participating in the Early Intervention Vocational Rehabilitation Service (EIVRS).
