Estimating PM exposure and its health impacts in cities involves large uncertainty due to the limitations of model resolutions. Consequently, attributing the sources of PM-related health impacts at the city level remains challenging. We characterize the health impacts associated with chronic PM exposure and anthropogenic emissions in Shanghai using a chemical transport model (GEOS-Chem) and its adjoint.

Large passenger ships are characterised as enclosed and crowded indoor spaces with frequent interactions between travellers, providing conditions that facilitate disease transmission. This study aims to provide an indoor ship CO dataset for inferring thermal comfort, ventilation and infectious disease transmission risk evaluation. Indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring was conducted in nine environments (three cabins, buffet, gym, bar, restaurant, pub and theatre), on board a cruise ship voyaging across the UK and EU, with the study conducted in the framework of the EU HEALTHY SAILING project.

Objective: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the prevailing type of oral cancer, representing poor prognosis and elevated mortality rates. Major risk factors for OSCC include the use of tobacco products, alcohol consumption, betel quid chewing, and genetic mutation. is traditionally consumed by cancer patients to fight against tumor growth.

Hydrate-based carbon capture and storage (HBCS) is a sustainable and promising approach to combating global warming by utilizing water, which is a ubiquitous resource. Here, we report a comprehensive study of CO hydrate formation in dry water (DW), a water-in-air dispersion confined in silica particles, for improving the kinetics of hydrate growth. Utilizing a combination of a home-built high-pressure reactor, in situ Raman spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), we elucidate the crystal structure, growth dynamics, and morphology of CO hydrates formed in DW, with and without the kinetic hydrate promoter, l-tryptophan.

There is an increasing number of randomized clinical trials intended to assess the effectiveness of indoor air cleaners for improving participant outcomes in real-world settings. In this communication, we synthesize the current state of registered air cleaner intervention trials and call attention to the critical importance of conducting measurements to characterize the performance and utilization of air cleaners in such trials to improve interpretation of exposure measurements and patient outcomes. We draw upon the existing literature and preliminary findings from our ongoing one-year, randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled case-control trial of stand-alone air filtration in the homes of U.
