Sheep in Italy are exposed to heat stress (HS) for several months, increasing the risk of HS-related problems such as the decrease in growth, reproductive performance, milk quantity and quality and natural immunity. This study aimed to assess changes in hematological and biochemical parameters in dairy sheep from three different farms with varying pasture management: A (no water or shade), B (water but no shade), and C (both water and shade). From March to June, when HS risk is high, monthly blood samples (T1-T4) were collected from 20 sheep per farm (total n = 60).

Hyperhomocysteinemia (serum homocysteine concentration > 15 μmol/L) is of high prevalence in chronic kidney disease (CKD). And myocardial hypertrophy is a common complication of CKD. Given that both hyperhomocysteinemia and cardiac hypertrophy have an association with CKD, we hypothesized that high level of plasma homocysteine (Hcy) is associated with a higher prevalence of ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) in adults with CKD.

A unified consensus on the optimal transfusion hemoglobin concentration threshold is needed to improve outcomes. This study investigated the effects of different transfusion thresholds during hospitalization on the prognosis of patients with sepsis and renal failure.

In certain people, the number of red blood cells continues to grow, resulting in high altitude polycythemia (HAPC) which is characterized by headache, disorientation, sleeplessness, and bone discomfort. HAPC is often associated with multiple complications, of which lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans (LEASO) is rare.

Background: We still know little about the effective pharmacological treatment of heart failure (HF) associated with the Fontan circulation. One of the new options may be sodium glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), which have been proven effective in classic forms of left ventricular HF.
Objectives: To evaluate the effect and safety of SGLT2i inclusion in adults with Fontan circulation.
