Background: It remains controversial whether a cancer history increases the risk of cardiovascular (CV) events among patients with myocardial infarction (MI) who undergo revascularization.
Methods and results: Patients who were confirmed as type 1 acute MI (AMI) by coronary angiography were retrospectively analyzed. Patients who died in hospital or those not undergoing revascularization were excluded. Patients with a cancer history were compared with those without it. A cancer history was examined in the in-hospital cancer registry. The primary outcome was a composite of cardiac death, recurrent type 1 MI, post-discharge coronary revascularization, heart failure hospitalization, and stroke. Among 551 AMI patients, 55 had a cancer history (cancer group) and 496 did not (non-cancer group). Cox proportional hazards model revealed that the risk of composite endpoint was significantly higher in the cancer group than in the non-cancer group (adjusted hazard ratio [HR]: 1.78; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.13-2.82). Among the cancer group, patients who were diagnosed as AMI within 6 months after the cancer diagnosis had a higher risk of the composite endpoint than those who were diagnosed as AMI 6 months or later after the cancer diagnosis (adjusted HR: 5.43; 95% CI: 1.55-19.07).
Conclusions: A cancer history increased the risk of CV events after discharge among AMI patients after revascularization.

Tricuspid regurgitation can be due to different causes and mechanisms. Among these, cardiac involvement in carcinoid disease is a rare cause of tricuspid valve disease with a peculiar echocardiographic aspect. We report the case of a 59-year-old woman, with no past medical history, who was recently found to have a heart murmur and signs of right heart failure.

Objective: Resistance to thyroid hormone beta (RTHβ) is a rare disorder characterized by a fairly heterogeneous clinical presentation due to varying degrees of tissue response to thyroid hormone. The study aimed to evaluate the clinical, laboratory features and genotype-phenotype relationship of Turkish patients with RTHβ.
Methods: Patients who underwent a THRB gene analysis between September 2019 and September 2023 were retrospectively reviewed.
Background: Linitis plastica is a challenging diagnosis in the setting of a patient with previous breast cancer.
Case Presentation: We present a case of a 74-year-old Chinese Female with a history of breast cancer who presented with epigastric pain, nausea, early satiety, and weight loss of 5 kg in 3 months. Endoscopic diagnosis of linitis plastica was made, but subsequent management plans were dependent on accurate histological assessment in view of her oncological history.

Cutaneous metastases from colorectal cancer are an uncommon but critical finding, typically signaling advanced disease with poor prognosis. This case report describes a 64-year-old woman with a limited past medical history who presented to our outpatient dermatology practice with rapidly spreading erythematous, indurated, and nearly verruciform plaques in the groin, vaginal, and perineal region. Biopsy confirmed metastatic adenocarcinoma of colonic origin, and diagnostic imaging, and colonoscopy revealed stage IV colorectal cancer involving extensive cutaneous, lymphatic, and visceral metastases.

Objective: To develop and validate a nomogram for predicting non-retrieval of the short-term retrievable inferior vena cava (IVC) filters.
Methods: In this study, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify predictive factors of short-term retrievable filter (Aegisy or OptEase) non-retrieval, and a nomogram was then established based on these factors. The nomogram was created based on data from a training cohort and validated based on data from a validation cohort.
